Getting ready to party - Party artwork!!!

07 August 2013

A surprise birthday party was in plan for our dearest grandma's 60th birthday, and all of us were busy as bees, getting all sorts of preparations done. Wayne included! Wayne was Chief Executive of Decorations, and here are evidences of him working real hard, coming up with the various DIY props!

His "Best Grandma!!" flag

Well trained in using 'sticky tape' (that's what he calls it!). He did a splendid job sticking the straws to the papers!

Yeah! SURPRISE grandma!

And this, of course, was for grandpa to present to his wife! Keke!

17 in all - Wayne had to fold each of them into half! Look at how pleased he was!

And a video he sent to yiyi and all, so everyone knew exactly what to do! Haha!

Party post coming right up!!!

Sundays with Amanda

28 July 2013 : Amanda enjoying a Sunday morning in her cot, which has turned into a play area for her.

Little munchie

Amanda, our little food monster, is happiest when she is eating. Though mommy is not a big fan of these teething rusks, because they are simply so so messy to eat, it can really keep her quiet for a long time.

So tonight, as I'm home alone with the two kids, while the husband has some deserving him time to catch up with his friends over drinks and de-stress after a long week at work, Amanda enjoyed her little snack of a rusk, which allowed me lots of time to leisurely enjoy my dinner and update this blog post.

I saw her smiling happily and kicking her legs (her signature happy-moments action) while eating her rusks , and I couldn't help but stop to capture a few shots of her.

She was obviously thrilled it was food time again!

Happy Friday everyone! It is going to be an exciting weekend ahead!

Bruised, the first fall

Well..... there always is a first to everything.

In this case, Amanda's first fall. Off the bed. (Ok, grandma and grandpa, don't panic as you read this from Japan, your grand daughter is fine, fiercer than ever!).

As careful (or un-careful) as we try to be as parents, accidents do happen. Or so we try to console ourselves.

So it was bedtime last night, and after putting her to bed, we were all in the living room when we heard that awful thud. It didn't take me more than half a second to realize what had happened. Wayne fell off the bed three times when he was younger, so that thud sound - we are familiar. My heart stopped beating for a second, and I dashed into the room, with Wayne and the husband following quickly behind me. There Amanda was on the floor, hands stretched out in front of her, left cheek on the floor. She had tried to crawl down, judging from that position. I quickly scooped her up and she burst into tears for a mere 5 seconds, before I brought her out into the living room. After a minute or so, she was her usual grinny self *phew*.

Damage?

A bruise on her left cheek.. and mommy and daddy's two awfully awfully awfully aching hearts.

A girl's fall is really much harder to bear than a boy's.

Cable car

With two young kids, one of the things we see ourselves doing a lot is....  visiting touristy places. And I've come to realize it's really expensive! But.... what else to do in Singapore, right? We want to let the kids experience new things each week, and what better place than exploring the tourists attractions - the zoo, the aquariums, parks.. and today, the cable car. =)  Which turned out to be a rather pleasant experience, certainly more fun than I thought it would be! I attribute it to the company, the four of us were simply in the best of moods that morning. =) Wayne especially loved the ride, which made us happy. And with Amanda growing up so quickly, these outings are proving increasingly enjoyable!

The ride was just a short ten to fifteen minutes each way, and with us perched high up, we enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the harbour and Sentosa Island. Though I would have loved to have some air conditioning in the cable car, the view made up for it. Wayne in particular enjoyed screaming 'whoa' each time the cable car went through a bumpy ride, and happily waved to the passengers going in the other direction (though no one bothered to wave back! *snorts* haha). It was fun just watching Wayne laugh and enjoy this new experience.

We took a short break for lunch at Imbiah Point, Sentosa, and had a good view of the Merlion, before heading back. It was a fun packed day, we only had the morning for this outing, having to attend a birthday party in the afternoon, but it was sufficient.

P/s This brought back much memories of our honeymoon in Canada, where we took the Banff Gondola up to Sulphur Mountain to this awesome sight.

Amazing view, right? We really felt like we were on top of the world. Five years back, but the memories are still so vivid. It was really an out of the world holiday - how I yearn to be back!!!!

Hello Kitty & Friends

240ml + one slice

This morning I was preparing Amanda's breakfast of 240ml of milk and a slice of bread. Fifteen minutes later, when Wayne woke up too, I found myself preparing the same 240ml of milk and a slice of bread for him.

I was amused by this simple realisation. 3 years apart but they were taking the same amount for breakfast. Explains their sizes.

Longkang fishing

In our bid to fill our weekends with doses of new, never-tried-before activities, here we are at Big Splash trying our hands at Longkang Fishing together with nainai, yeye and ah por! 'Longkang fishing' - I like the name of it!

Wayne was given a small net and we headed straight to the children 'longkang' area which was really more a small pond and not a longkang, if you are wondering. For an hour, he tried his best to scoop the tiny fishes into his net! Ok correction, most of the time one of us adults were the one with the small net scurrying after the fishes. Wayne just enjoyed going "wowwww" as more and more fishes ended up in our container. Not much patience this boy has, pretty much giving up after his initial few attempts and realizing this wasn't going to be that easy.

Amanda on the other hand, was having her own fun at the playground just beside the children fishing area. Quite a child friendly place isn't it! Her first few times on the slides, and Amanda is definitely not the timid baby Wayne was. She loved the slide! Once we put her seated at the top of the slide, she'd impatiently wriggle her bum to quickly have a ride down smiling as she had her own mini adrenaline rush.
