Our dancing prince

Little Wayne just loves to dance.. each time there's music, he'd be swaying from side to side, legs marching, head nodding and hands in the air. Mommy just loves to see him dancing!! His favourite tune to dance to at the moment sure is the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme song! Hehe, as well as the 'ABC' song, Happy Birthday song, Soldiers marching, Drunken sailors... and the list goes on....

Wayne's also at the age now where he can't speak but is trying to communicate to us, by using all his funny 'sign' languages! In the morning, when he wakes up and wants to have his milk, he'd have his hand in the 'holding cup' action and bring it to his mouth while making the 'drinking' sound. His way of saying he wants to drink. When he gets hold of a bottle, DVD casing, or anything that he wants to be opened, he'd pass it to mommy or daddy and do the 'open' action using his two hands (which looks like him shuffling a deck of cards =p).

Sometimes he'd do some real funny actions that mommy has no clue at all what he is trying to 'say'. Well, when Wayne starts to talk, hopefully mommy will figure all that out then!!!

Meanwhile, happy dancing baby!

Sand is not Wayne's cup of tea

We got all excited (mainly mommy) for an evening at Pasir Ris Park to build sand castles!!!

Oops turned out... building a sand castle is much harder than we thought... and guess what our little Wayne didnt seem to like the sand at all!! In fact, he looked at it like "eeii.. whats that dirty stuff all stuck to my feet and hands???". It was really funny, cos when mommy first removed his shoes and let him stand on the sand, he kept looking at the sand and his feet, and kept lifting up his feet to tell mommy that there's sand stuck to it. He was real hesitant to walk initially but soon was off walking on the stand. But if you realised from all the photos, he didnt sit on the sand at all, always being so careful not to let the sand touch his precious butt!!!

Instead, Wayne was fascinated with his watering can, filling it with sea water and pouring the water on the sand. He must have refilled his can a hundred times.

Halfway through we had company... much to the irritation of daddy.. haha...

The real headache came when we were done and ready to go home.. cleaning off the sand on all 3 of us was such a pain.

Judging from this experience, mommy thinks we are better off playing with imaginary sand at home in the comfort of our air conditioned home in future! Or since Wayne actually loves the sand castle tools and water, we'd just bring all the tools along when we go swimming the next time! That would be fun!

Goodnight adventures with Mickey

Hello everyone!! I am little Wayne Wayne and this is my best friend, Mickey! Welcome to our clubhouse!! Its night time now, and I'm drinking my milk, which my daddy prepares for me every night! Each night when I see daddy bring my bottle of milk into the room, I'd scramble to mommy's pillow, lie down and get all ready to drink while Mickey lies down beside me..

This particular night, while I was drinking my milk, I suddenly heard a very loud growl & rumble coming from Mickey's tummy! Uh oh, Mickey is hungry!!! I quickly get up...

...... and share my milk with my best friend Mickey!! Mommy always tells me to share my things with others, so I'd be a good boy and listen to my mommy!

Yay... Mickey is now full and happy, see Mickey is smiling happily! I give Mickey a few pats on his back to help him burp, just as how mommy used to do to me when I was just a few months old!

Now that Mickey is full, I continue drinking, finishing up my 240ml of milk for the night!

Now, I am full too!!! And, when I'm full, I'm H-A-P-P-Y and thats when the fun begins!!!
I love crawling all over the bed... lying all over the pillows...
...and having the time of my life!!
I'd walk wobbly on the bed..
...pulling Mickey along
and throwing myself backwards onto the bed!
or jumping on the bed! see how my hair flies up as i 'jump"!
and sometimes I just entertain myself by hitting my head..
And I continue and continue until I get tired.... and fall asleep on the bed... And mommy will then turn off the lights, and I'd have my good night sleep with Mickey straight through to the next morning.. Good night everyone!!! I love you mommy, I love you daddy..... sweet dreams...... *eyes half closed*

Happy sweet 16, love

To my sweet baby,

You turn 16 months today.

Mommy has said this umpteen times but yes, you are really growing up way too fast. How you have grown since just a few months back when you could only look at us with your sparkling eyes, always beaming with curiousity, not being able to crawl or walk.

Today you have grown into this active little boy, curious about everything around you. Opening drawers, climbing onto chairs, grabbing anything which is of reach and that does not belong to you, laughing, babbling & screaming as you walk around the house, loving the attention everyone showers upon you. Each time you do an action which triggers the laughter & claps of people around you, you'd repeat them over and over again, loving the attention, grinning away, laughing out loud. Cheeky, playful and full energy. With a strong, fiesty character of your own. No one can force you into doing something you dont want to, not even mommy. And when you want something, you'd never give up till you get it.

Strong charactered as you are, you have this soft side of you which mommy so loves. One moment you could be this rough, active, cheeky little boy & the next moment, you turn into that little baby that you really are. Meek, sweet and loving. Walking over to hug mommy & daddy ever so often, planting that wet kiss on mommy's lips, or just resting your little head on our laps. Mommy loves and cherishes all these moments, and sometimes cant help but wonder when it would all end the moment you grow up into a big boy and become too 'cool' for these actions?

Your big heart is not reserved just for mommy & daddy but for grandma, grandpa, nai nai, yeye, all your aunties and uncles and all your little friends in class. And, yes, your 2 best friends, Mickey & Goofy too. Whom you hug ever so sweetly each night as they accompany you to sleep.

Mommy's eternally grateful for having you, my little boy, my little Wayne Wayne. You are & always will be perfect in mommy's eyes. Mommy loves you with every bit of me. Happy sweet 16 months darling.

Love : Mommy

And so, we spent our lazy Sunday afternoon supporting fei yiyi in her canoe polo match! Wayne Wayne must be her biggest supporter, its the 3rd time Wayne has attended fei yiyi's matches!
Good thing, we found a cool spot to sit down and watch the match!! And when Wayne was bored, he had his sand castle tools by his side to keep him entertained!

All the best fei yiyi!!! Hope you bag the championship!

Wayne has been babbling alot lately, so mommy is really on 'standby' and looking forward to when you start saying your first words any moment any time now! That will be so so fun!!!!!

Shichida is getting fun

Mommy & Wayne attended our second Shichida lesson together this afternoon. Wayne seems to really enjoy himself at class, looking forward to each activity that teacher Hui Ling conducts. Well actually not all activities, only those with materials for him to play with! When its time to look at the TV, Wayne immediately would be bored and would start to climb down his chair and walk around in the class.. either (i) going to the window to look at birds (ii) to the door to play with the door stopper or (iii) to look for his friends and their mommies or daddies. And then, when he sees teacher Huiling taking out some toys again, he'd quickly walk back to his chair and sit on it again. =)

As usual, Wayne was the most 'vocal' (i.e noisy!) in the class, always calling out 'ah ah ah' to the teacher asking for toys or he'd be laughing out really loudly when he amuses himself.. like when he managed to stick some of the cardboard starfishes on the sole of his feet, dragging them along as he walked (totally not what he was supposed to do with the starfishes). =P And this lesson, Wayne was especially affectionate, hugging his friends in class, more than once.

The best part of this class? Mommy has been understanding my little baby alot more through the class! Mommy's able to understand better what Wayne likes and dislikes, how he reacts to different situations and how to pacify him when he is impatient. Perhaps this is the bonding between mommy & child that the Shichida programme emphasizes so much on. Hmm, actually mommy really hopes that daddy can accompany Wayne for the class too, I think daddy needs the bonding with Wayne more than mommy! Okie, mommy's going to pressure daddy to take leave every week to go for class with Wayne from now on!

Ohh, taking the class more seriously now, mommy & daddy decided to start on some home practise with Wayne! After consulting teacher Huiling, daddy got a set of flashcards and number random dots card for little Wayne! Now all mommy needs is some discipline & determination to do these home exercises with Wayne!

Mommy's happy & looking forward to the next class together already!

Chef de Cuisine Wayne Chan?

Mommy has really been in the mood of spoiling Wayne lately - constantly thinking of the many toys that mommy knows Wayne would love and thinking which to buy for him (mommy's heart says all!)... like this kitchen play set which mommy & daddy just bought for Wayne today after work!

You see, we brought Wayne for dinner at this golf club last Sunday and they had a kiddy corner with a kitchen play set which Wayne absolutely loved... After seeing how much my little Wayne enjoyed his own chef pretend play, mommy couldnt help but get him his very own kitchen set! The set includes an oven, basin, pots and pans, cups, plates and cutleries.. and when you 'cook' there's even sound and light! You can also dismantle and arrange the various parts of the kitchen according to how you like it.

We also bought Wayne a set of 'food' to complete his pretend play! When Wayne saw this, he was so excited, he kept asking mommy to open it for him!! Mommy loves to see little Wayne so happy!

Heh, daddy was commenting that the kitchen set is too big for own tiny home... already Wayne's room is filled with all his toys.. hmm, dont worry, mommy will find space!!! Mommy is looking forward to this weekend when daddy sets up the kitchen and mommy & Wayne can cook up a storm together!!! Wayne Wayne can invite grandma and grandpa and all his yi-yi's over for a meal!!!

U for Umbrella!

One of the first few things that Wayne could recognise on flash cards was the umbrella! Since he was about 8 months old, Wayne has been fascinated by umbrellas! Everytime he spots someone carrying an unbrella, he'd go 'eh eh eh' and point towards the umbrella. So you can imagine how happy he was when mommy & daddy bought him his very own kiddo umbrella!!

Isnt this cute? Kid size, colorful and in the design of a tiger, complete with 2 ears!

Although it was past his bedtime, Wayne Wayne refused to let go of his umbrella that night, walking round & round the house holding it!

Goaties, Froggies & Veggies.. all in a day!

Its National Day today and that means mommy & daddy doesn't have to work! Yippee!!!

So where did we bring Wayne today? To Kranji Countryside!!!!! If you are wondering what's there, lots!!! Well, before surfing the internet on it, mommy never knew there were so many interesting farms to explore there! It sure was an interesting day for mommy, daddy & Wayne!

First stop was this goat farm called Hay Dairies Goat Farm.

Contrary to what most people think, no it was not smelly! Wayne Wayne got to see hundreds and hundreds of goats! Papa goats, mama goats and baby goats! All sizes and color.

And, wow, it was fun to see the milking of the goats! Exactly like how mommy used to express milk out for little Wayne. Hmm... it was just 7 months ago when mommy last did that, but it seems like a pretty long time ago. You know, the process is exactly the same for goats.. first, the handlers cleaned the udders and teats of the goat, squeezed out the initial few drops of milk to be thrown away, placed the 2 electric pumps over the teats, and that oh-so-familiar pumping sound was heard.. and the milking begins, from the tubes to this container where the milk was stored. wow... thats almost the exact same steps mommy did.

Gosh look how big the udders are.. totally ENGORGED!!!! Ready for milking!!
The plastic pumps to replace manual milking with the hands..

The container storing the freshly expressed milk.. Hahaha... after the milking, totally deflated .. (same as mommy! =(=(=( hahaha)
Little Wayne having fun watching the goats!

Fresh goat's milk for sale..

We also bought a bottle of goat's milk to try.. mommy was not brave enough to try it, but daddy did! Finished the whole bottle. No trying for Wayne either!

Next stop was to the Jurong Frog Farm, which was a real disappointment. Not worth visiting at all, there were just many ugly frogs all cooped up in dirty looking cubicles... eeii.. mommy doesnt like live frogs. After seeing them, mommy doesnt feel like eating my favourite Geylang frog porridge anymore!
Where they multiply..
See.. hundreds of frogs cooped up in this ugly dirty cubicle
Frogs captured for sale.. so gross... all the frogs just bundled up in these green netting
Frogs for sale... eeii.. not after seeing them alive.. slimy and all.
So off we went to our last stop.. which was the Bollywood Veggies! Mommy liked this place very much!!! This farm was an eye opener! It was decorated real nice & interesting. There were all kinds of vegetables here, fruits, veggie, herbs etc.... most of which mommy & daddy have never seen before! Wayne Wayne could only recognise his favourite bananas hanging on the trees!

After touring the farm, we had our lunch at the restaurant at the farm, called Poison Ivy, named after the owner of the farm, Ivy Singh-Lim. The food was yummy and fresh from the farm. Wayne Wayne had his share of cauliflower, tofu and brocolli with rice for lunch!

And with that ended our morning farm excursion. Nature rocks!!!
