The cot is a present from my parents, thanks so much mommy & daddy!! Wayne Wayne also says thank you grandpa and grandma!!!

Memories in a scrapbook... At 21 weeks

Bought a scrapbook today from Prints to jot down and remember all our preparations for little Wayne's arrival. Have been eyeing this scrapbook for quite a while already but again, have been putting off buying it as we didnt know for sure our baby's gender (hmm despite calling him Wayne all these while already.. hehe). Anyway, since we've already been calling him Wayne for the longest time AND already bought his first set of clothes, whats one more 'boyish' item for him! =p

Wayne darling, mommy will record down all the details about you, from the time mommy and daddy knew you were in mommy's tummy till the day you pop out into this world.. and when Wayne darling is older, mommy will show and explain to you everything about mommy's pregnancy. And next time, Wayne can keep the scrapbook and show it to your own children as well. =)

Mommy & daddy hope you like the clothes Wayne baby! You will look so cute in them! Although the clothes are for 3 months old (its the smallest size they have), mommy and daddy are hoping that Wayne Wayne will be able to fit into them for your full month party!

Merry merry xmas Wayne Wayne! Mommy feels especially happy this xmas cos Wayne Wayne is in mommy's tummy. Daddy has been very sweet to mommy and has been taking extra care of mommy. Stroller hunting... At 20 weeks

Went stroller hunting for Wayne today. Saw this Bugaboo Bee stroller we really liked, $999 from Mothercare. Going to make a trip to the Baby Hypermart to check out if they also carry this model and if prices are cheaper.

And little Wayne has been so active in my tummy the past week. Adorable Wayne.

Gynae Visit #4... At 20 weeks

Visited Dr Lee today for a scan just to make sure little Wayne is doing fine. Got a bit worried by the frequent cramps that I was experiencing. Thankfully it was nothing serious. Found out I had some bacteria in my urine (which is pretty common I think). Taking a round of antibiotics and hopefully all will clear up. Results from my culture test also showed that all was clear. No harmful bacteria for Wayne, phew. Again, seeing little Wayne in the scans cheered me up and really made my day. =)=)=) I love Wayne so much already.

Also went to Rustic Nirvana to try out their pre-natal massage. It was good! Very relaxing. Signed up for their package. $1,200 for 16 sessions of either pre-natal or post-natal massage, plus 7 body scrubs and 7 hot sand bed treatment. Hoping to make it every 2 weeks to relax. And hopefully reduce any water retention and back aches that I may start developing.

Excited. =)

Worried... At 20 weeks

Little Wayne has been quite active lately, moving around in my tummy more often.

And on a more worrying note, I've been experiencing sharp pains in my lower abdomen lately. Quite a few times now and its always around noon, just when I am about to go for lunch. Made an appointment to see Dr Lee tomorrow, just to be safe.

I've heard its pretty normal to experience discomfort as the womb is expanding but its sharp pains that I'm experiencing, so I really am quite worried.

Last night, I was surfing on Jamu massages and baby photoshoots. Really like the photos by Sean Lau (http://www.seanlau.com/).

As for the photos of pregnant moms, I kinda like the one by Studio Loft (www.thestudioloft.com.sg). They actually do semi nude photos which i thought was pretty cool.
Excited!

Today I also went to Robinsons to check out the breast pumps and bottle sterilisers. Like the Medela PIS Advanced and the Avent IQ steriliser. Think its still too early to buy, perhaps in Jan 2009. =)

Wayne is going to Genting! ... At 19 weeks

Tomorrow we will be going to Genting Highlands and KL and this will be Wayne's second trip overseas! (While still in my womb =)). First trip was to Amsterdam in September when he was just 2 months.

Heard its quite cold in Genting Highlands now and was thinking about what outfit to bring along when I realised that I had no bottoms to wear in the cold! I can no longer wear my jeans! Wearing mostly dresses now. Thankfully Sharryl, my colleague recommended to me this "Bella Band" which is like an elastic tube which you wear around your waist. So you wear your normal jeans and obviously it cant be zipped up anymore so you leave it unzipped then you wear the tube across your hips covering the unzipped portion. Sounds good and so useful! Anyway, over lunch today, I went over to Marina Square to grab that from Maternity Exchange. Costs $55 and comes in various colours, I got mine in black. Yippee!! Am so glad I got in time, now I can wear my jeans! Wayne Wayne will not be cold anymore with my jeans on!

Cant wait for Wayne Wayne to be out and we can bring Wayne baby on trips together! Mommy and daddy would love to bring Wayne Wayne to Gold Coast! Mommy thinks Wayne would love Movie World and Sea World! Wayne Wayne will get to run around, enjoy the good weather, have lots of ice cream, take alot of photographs with mommy and daddy and enjoy all the kiddy rides! Mommy feels excited!!!!!

My little baby bump... At 19 weeks

My little baby bump is getting quite obvious now. Love showing it to HK each night. Every night, I would monitor it and wonder how my little baby is doing inside, whether baby is growing well, whether his eyes are open, whether he has a cute face.. =)

To people around me, how obvious it is really depends on what I wear. . some days it looks so big and obvious and some days I don’t look very pregnant at all. Like today, I’m wearing a half skirt which kinda covers my tummy so my colleagues commented they can hardly tell I’m pregnant. But just yesterday, I met Chris and gang wearing a babydoll dress and whoa they commented my tummy grew so fast. But I’m now close to my fifth month, so I should be growing very fast these couple of weeks already. Gotta be prepared!

My 2nd maternity dress …. At 18 weeks

Bought another dress today from Bysi. My so-called 2nd maternity dress! Grey and black. Prob something I can continue to wear after giving birth. This is definitely more ‘maternity’ than the first piece.

And yes, I’ve been feeling those small little movements in my tummy at times.. but I still cant be sure if that’s Wayne or if its just some air bubbles or something???

Thanks Shimin for the list of baby items to buy!

My 1st maternity dress! …. At 18 weeks

Bought a dress today, purple in color, quite flare and with a ribbon at the waist that you can tie at the back. So its very good for maternity cos its adjustable. Happy! My first piece of maternity wear. Okie its not exactly for maternity but I think it should be able to last me till I’m quite big!

Wayne? ... At 17 weeks

Not sure when it started, but we’ve started to refer to our baby as Wayne already (Though Dr Lee refused to confirm 100% that our little baby is a boy).

Wayne Chan. =)

Mom, Mic and Elaine doesn’t like the name Wayne, but thankfully I have a supporter in Vivien! Hehe. Each of them have their own preferred name.. there’s Sean, Jayden etc… haha.. but we’ve stuck with Wayne. That’s our little boy.

Actually, its funny how we decided on the name Wayne. We thought of the name even before we knew I was pregnant... while watching Batman. Hahaha. Bruce Wayne. =p

So each night, its now good night Wayne.. no longer good night baby. I’m happy and thankful.

I'm getting excited shopping! …. At 17 weeks

Dropped by the Baby Hypermart at Kaki Bukit this morning. Saw lotsa of cots and prams and baby car seats. Have been looking around lately, comparing the various kinds. But we will probably only start buying late December or perhaps Jan/Feb. Everyone advises us not to buy it too late (after 7 months) cos I’ll be big and it’ll be difficult to shop around. It’ll be so fun buying all the clothes and baby stuff!

Gynae Visit #3 …. At 17 weeks

Gynae visit #3 - 830am

Weeks 17 weeks
Baby size 13 cm (Yay! Baby is growing!)
My weight 49kg

Again, it was another heartwarming moment seeing our baby. So glad HK was there to witness it. Felt like tearing. =)

Ooh I’m putting on weight quite steadily.. still need some time to adjust to it. Soon I’ll be big.. BIG BIG BIG!

Was hoping Dr Lee could confirm that we were having a baby boy but he refused!!! He said likely but not 100% sure! Asked us to wait for our detailed scan on 2 Jan 2009, when we will know for sure – 100%!! Well gotta wait another month then!! Can’t wait!

I'm growing FAT! …. At 16 weeks

My clothes are getting tight!! Especially my shorts... Just got a new pair from Far East Plaza in M size to tide me through the next few weeks!

Ohh, Sharryl (my colleague) was sharing with me how for her pregnancy she put on 24kg in total and how big she was in her final trimester!!! And I was thinking, if I put on 24kg also, I’d be 70 kg at the end of my pregnancy!!! Yikes!!!! How scary is that!!! That’s only 10 kg less than HK!! OMG!!! No no no…………… !!!

Boy or girl??!!…. At 14 weeks

My colleagues today were guessing whether I was carrying a baby boy or girl. Most guessed it was a girl cos I still looked quite girly. They said if it’s a boy, normally the mom’s skin will get oilier and breakout in pimples. And her features will change to be not so girly. I hope that doesn’t happen to me!!! *fingers crossed*

But they said if it’s a boy, the tummy will be sharper and not so wide. This I heard before. Can’t really see my tummy yet so still too early to tell!

But because Dr Lee already said its likely a boy, both me and HK are expecting a boy in our hearts already. =)

OSCAR test …. At 13 weeks

Went to Thomson Medical for the OSCAR test today, sent by Dr Lee.

I had such a tender moment seeing my baby.. he was so cute. okie, i am using he because i dont know what to use and since Dr Lee said its likely a boy I'll just use he for the moment. I could actually see him moving his hands and legs... and he was stretching.... and using his hands to rub his eyes. He was so so cute. Wished HK was there to witness that. Next time. =) I love scans.

Gynae Visit #1 Its amazing!! …. At 10 weeks

Gynae visit #1 - 10am

Weeks 9 weeks 5 days
Baby size 2.86cm
Estimated due date 9 May 2009
My weight 46.8kg (I think I started off at 46kg? So that’s about 0.8kg I’ve put on.)

It was amazing!

Seeing our baby for the first time, it really felt quite amazing. Maybe because we weren’t expecting to be able to see a shape of a baby at 9 weeks? Anyway, it was such a sweet moment……. And you know, I truly felt the love for my baby for the first time. Maybe it just hadn’t really sink I previously that I was really pregnant! But seeing the scan, it really warmed my heart. And knowing that this baby is really something special between HK and myself, I truly felt happy and thankful for this little baby of ours.

We heard his heartbeat too, went really very fast!!

And guess what, Its likely a boy!

And finally I'm taking the folic acid and calcium pills.

And, we bought omega 3 pills as well as well as stretch mark creams recommended by Pearly: Elancyl

I feel so much more assured now!

Wednesday, October 1, 2008

Yikes, I dont know anything abour pregnancy!

Had dinner with mom & family, and Michelle was telling me all about the do's and don'ts and I realised I know nothing about pregnancy. Like taking folic acid pills and buying stretch mark creams etc... I've not bought or done anything! *stressed*

Sweet Vien bought me 2 books on pregnancy to read up on. Thanks so much Vien, I really need them!!!

Called granny to tell her the good news.. she was so happy.

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Yay, finally made my gynae appointment!

Finally made appointments to see 2 gynaes. Thanks Vien for recommending! And for even sharing the good about these 2 gynaes!

MD Specialist
Dr Lee Wei Hong
Mount Elizabeth

" This is my gynae and he’s been practicing for 18 years… He’s very good in that he is very gentle and patient (takes time to explain the details to you).

Also, in the event of a C-Section, he is good as he will be concerned about the aesthetic too. Won't anyhow cut and will make sure it’ll be nicely done. "

Fong's Clinic for Women
Gleneagles
Dr Fong Chuan Wee

" This doctor is also quite good and he has delivered many of the staff’s babies, even Dayan."

We decided on Dr Lee. =)

Excited yet apprehensive...

Although we both increasingly got a little more excited at the thought of having a baby, we realized that we were still quite scared cos from time to time, either one of us would be asking questions like.. “Do you think we can still go shopping along Orchard Road on weekends?” or HK would ask “Do you think I can still play soccer on Sunday mornings?” or “Do you think we can still go on our annual holidays” or weekend nice dinners, movies etc……..

And we both agreed that even with a baby, we’d still continue all these. With the help of our parents. I don’t know, maybe we are being too optimistic here. But we’ll try. =)

The realisation! Its sinking in!

I haven’t suffered from much morning sickness yet. Just tend to get hungrier more often. And I get the mild dizziness I realize normally after my meals –not sure if that’s part of the morning sickness or is that just me being paranoid? And, I am sleepy all the time! I really mean all the time! I just feel like lying on the bed and doing nothing. Just feel really lethargic half the time. Is that just me again??

After I am back from Amsterdam, I’ll be arranging for a gynae appointment. Then we’d probably know how many weeks pregnant I already am. I feel kinda nervous telling our family members about being pregnant without having met the gynae. I mean what if the gynae finds out that the foetus is not healthy or if there’s something wrong with my body? I’m being so worried here.

Anyway today, HK and I were at Parkway Parade and we dropped by Mothercare to have a look at prams out of curiosity. And wow, some were really expensive! Saw one that was about $1,800. Not cheap eh… but of course, it looked really good. And, I bought some baby clothes for Sharon, Pearly and Jean’s baby. Surprisingly for a guy, HK likes to shop for baby clothes too. He is always pointing out nice clothes and helping me choose. I love you HK, you are one special guy.

Its confirmed!

Quite timely that we were both on leave today, so the first thing after we woke up, we went to a GP just to confirm the test results. Then, we went over to my mom’s place to let her know. Went to Wild Rocket for dinner, and then headed back home to let HK’s parents know. They were all elated. Both sides first time grand parents. =)

And Elaine too, she couldn’t stop smiling after knowing.

The surprise! Or I mean the SURPRISE!

True to my womanly instincts, HK and I stared at the two vertical lines on the self test pregnancy kit… I tested positive, I was pregnant! We had a flurry of emotions... Panicked for a while. We were totally caught by surprise. We didn’t know how to react, we didn’t know what to feel. I just remember feeling really scared. And, HK trying to be brave in front of me but deep down I knew he was feeling scared as well. After all, we didn’t plan to have a child until after two years later. And having a child is not like getting a new toy where you can chuck it aside after a while. It’s the responsibilities, commitments and the total change in lifestyle that you will have to face up to. And, HK and I have only gotten married for 4 months!

Well, HK has always been the more logical one of us both, explaining to me why we should have the baby - his way of calming me down. After thinking it through, scared as we were, we just didn’t see any reason for us not to want to continue the pregnancy. Perhaps now thinking back, it seemed the only logical choice, but when the realization that I was pregnant sank in, it just didn’t seem as simple as it does now thinking back. But I’m glad we feel this way now. It took us one whole night to calm down and realize that yes, we are going to be parents soon!
