Ballet under the Stars.....

Wayne's latest craze... Angelina the Ballerina... Funnily Wayne's favorite cartoon at the moment is this mouse like character who's a ballerina! And incidentally, Mommy's been taking up ballet lessons again after a multi-year hiatus.

And therefore what better way to spend the weekend than to watch a ballet performance. Daddy chanced upon a flyer on "Ballet under the Stars" and promptly proceeded to purchase tix for the event at Fort Canning so that both Wayne and Mommy could enjoy their favourite cartoon and hobby respectively.

When we arrived an hour and a half prior to the event, the venue was very much packed to the rafters, with loads of people on their mats, enjoying their food and drinks. Everyone was pretty well prepared, with some families even bringing their cooler boxes to store their drinks! Thankfully the weather was gorgeous, blue skies with a hint of breeze.
Fortunately we still managed to find a spot with a pretty good vantage point. Here's Daddy laying out the picnic mat and our food from Pastamania which we bought for the event!

This was Wayne's dinner, pasta in tomato herb sauce, and he almost finished the whole portion! Daddy and Mommy had their chicken wings, pizza and aglio olio, not forgetting beer and juices.
Dad and son sharing a toast! Hoegarden & H2O.

Wayne enjoying his Frolick peach ice-cream.

The performances were beautiful. The grace of the dancers belied the strength and stamina needed to execute those moves.

Wayne enjoyed the show pretty much actually, as he would clap when the ballerinas danced and even identified the lead ballerina as Angelina the mouse. It was a wonderful outing, good food, drinks, nice green open space for Wayne to run around and of course a wonderful performance from the ballerinas.

We'll definitely be back next year!

Wayne's first Children Church service!

Wayne had his first encounter with Jesus today, attending his first children church session at CHC.

The past times we had attended service in the main hall, Wayne absolutely disliked the loud music always insisting he wants to go out. This time was no different. Even before the service started, he insisted on going out...

With grandpa in the main hall
So instead, Wayne joined the 2 years old group of kids at the children church and Mommy & daddy accompanied Wayne throughout the session. The room was equipped with a screen and headsets for parents to watch & hear the service; it turned out much better than mommy expected. At least this way, mommy & daddy could ‘attend’ the service as well.

Wayne's welcome gift which was a giant pencil!
Welcome to CHC!
Sticker to identify little Wayne!
And a membership card too..
Wayne enjoyed the session a lot as well.. there were so many toys in the room, I think he couldn’t finish playing with all of them. There was his favourite cooking set, a ball pool, a slide and lots of other toys such as cars, animal figurines and more. And many many little friends his age!!

As today’s service was exceptionally long, half of the session was free play and the other half was conducted like a mini service but in a kid friendly way. The teachers sang praise songs to God with simple hand actions that the kids could follow, read stories to the kids about Jesus, taught the kids various things like flowers and relating it back to how God created them. Wayne even had his first art & craft session – making a beautiful flower pot!

Initially, during the activities session, Wayne clung on tightly to mommy.. not wanting to participate. He was really shy. When the teachers sang a welcome song to the children, singing and calling out the names of each kid individually and it was Wayne's turn, he was so funny.. he immediately said "no no.." and turned to face the wall, saying "hide"! Mommy & daddy burst out laughing. He was so shy.

But after a while, he got comfortable and started participating in the activities. Wayne enjoyed himself.

At the end of the session, they also had light snacks – seaweed biscuits – which hungry Wayne loved so much he finished his share & even asked the teacher for more!!!

And the funniest thing was when he got home that night.. mommy taught him how to pray and say "Amen"... the next morning, mommy asked him to show me how he prays, he clasped both hands under his chin, closed his eyes and said "Amm... " instead! *"amm" as in "eating"* And said "food.... eat..." Hahah.... he must have been thinking about the seaweed biscuits he had in church. You are always making mommy laugh..... =D

No more seeing kor-kor Seth?!

Its another new term at Shichida & today, we realised that kor-kor Seth, Wayne's friend in class, is no longer joining us. Boo.... so upsetting! Ask Wayne if he has friends, he'd always go kor-kor Seth... sometimes, he'd also pretend play that he is kor-kor Seth, especially when he is driving. He's the only one in class that Wayne would mention at home, so he must have left a deeper impression. Bye bye kor-kor Seth, we will miss you.

Anyway, this would likely be Wayne's last term at Shichida too. For we plan to send Wayne to pre-school in October, and 6 days of school seems way too many days. Pre-school would be more than enough fun for little Wayne, right darling? And, that would mean weekends would be more flexible for mommy & daddy to plan different activities for you as well.. more family outings and short trips? Hopefully.

Today in class, the kids were taught additions... mommy thought that was quite ridiculous. Wayne is only 2 years old. Well, perhaps they were not really expected to master additions and were just taught that to expose themselves to counting numbers (or perhaps kids this age these days REALLY can do additions). Well, Wayne was clearly not up to that level yet, so while the other mommies & daddies were teaching their kids additions, mommy was playing with Wayne, laughing at the cute animals that they were supposed to add up.

And after the class, as with other lessons, Wayne enjoyed playing at the back of the classroom. Wayne liked playing with the turtle and various pictures hanging on the wall.

This is Katie, Wayne's classmate.. Katie has beautiful long eyelashes which mommy adores! And Katie is also Wayne's hopping buddy, for these 2 kids... they love to hop, hop, hop together at the back of the class.

Wayne showing mommy the sticker which he chose... its ALWAYS Thomas the Train!

See, little Wayne after choosing his sticker, always likes to look on at his other friends, seeing which stickers they choose...
Jie jie Gerraine... Wayne's other friend, who always amazes mommy as she can remember the songs which we sing in class. Even those in Japanese! Jie jie Gerraine is definitely the most advance in terms of development of the group. Very sweet girl, with big round eyes & whom mommy loves to talk to, as she can really say a lot of things! Today, she was dressed so cutely, like an adult, with her big oversized white shirt tucked into her jeans. She told her mommy her jeans were the same as Wayne's. =)

Unexpected visit to the tyre workshop

What a morning we had. We were on our way for a house viewing early Saturday morning & was in the car along PIE when we started to hear very loud rattling sounds coming from the front left tyre... Daddy quickly exited the expressway and dropped by one of the tyre workshops to check it out & realised that the front left tyre had torn. So we spent the next half an hour at the workshop having our two front tyres changed & spending unexpected money.

Wayne saw daddy's car tyres being taken out & was very concerned.... he kept asking "How?" How?" Haha, Wayne is cute. He was amazed by the many tyres there and kept looking on inquisitively as the mechanics did their job. He could recognise daddy's tyres among the many on the floor, by the Alfa logo at the centre of the rim, pointing it out repeatedly to mommy & daddy (in case we didnt know). =)

So, we didnt manage to attend the viewing afterall, but I think Wayne enjoyed his time at the workshop more than he would have had at the viewing. =)

Funny moments with Wayne

Now that Wayne is starting to talk a bit more, he has been amusing mommy & daddy quite a bit with the funny things he says.

Like when he played with the rice cup in the kitchen and poured the rice on the floor, when mommy scolded him, he gave me that innocent face, and said "nooooooooo..... not wayne. Cup pour, not wayne".

And one morning when we were still in bed, he asked me to "go outside", sleepy mommy said "can't wayne, mommy haven't brushed my teeth" and he quickly climbed to my side, sniffed at my mouth and said "mmmmmm...... nice!!! go outside go outside go outside" (His 'nice' telling me no need to brush my teeth, and that we can go outside now). Adorable.

This morning, the doorbell rang early in the morning (our part time helper was here) and Wayne quickly sat up on the bed and went "M!!" with a big smile on his face. Hahha, he calls Macdonalds "M" now, and thought it was the MAc delivery man. Haha, goes to show how often we order Mac breakfast!

His favourite phrases now includes.. "how come...?", "oh no....", "why....", "go there..." always dragging the last syllabus of the phrases. Its really cute.

Wayne's also really into trains, going 'choo choo' the whole day, moving his train on imaginary tracks and humps.. and also, imaginary 'eating' and cooking.. that's little Wayne at 2 years and 2 months old. =)

Happy first month, Baby Naomi

Baby Naomi turns one month old!

Wayne's little baby cousin. =)

We attended the full month celebration this afternoon. Never fails to remind mommy of when Wayne was just a wee baby too. So tiny, so fragile.

See how big precious Wayne has grown now.

Wayne had a good time by the pool just outside the function room. Took off his shoes and dipped his legs in the water, splish-splash splish-splash, he was happy just splashing his legs. Again, giving his 'smile'. See how his eyes goes into that moon shape each time he smiles. So cute.

Grow up well, baby Naomi! Wayne is waiting to play with you!!
