Happy 7 months darling!

I really cant believe how quickly Wayne is growing up. Wayne just turned 7 months old today and in the past month, our sweet baby has learnt so many new things.. he really amazes us each week, surprising us with something new!

Top 10 highlights of the past month:

1) Scratching.. his fingers just got into scratching mode from . Everything he gets hold off, he will scratch, be it the table top, your back, your shoulder, his tummy - he'll do the scratching action. Its adorable.

2) High five! Yeah!

3) Shake hands - Wayne does it the muslim way, with two hands. He'll extend a hand and grab yours, then place his other hand on top of yours. And for his favourite people, his hand shake comes with a scream! Usually reserved for his daddy!

4) Lights lights - and up he will look at the ceiling where the lights are! Same for the moo moo cow and doggie!

5) Teeths - Wayne has it really funny. His bottom 2 teeth started coming out when he was about 5 and a half months old. And, when he was six months old, instead of the upper 2 centre teeth coming out, his 2 side teeth started growing out! As for the upper 2 centre ones - just spotted the left one coming out 2 days back!

6) Sitting up without support at 6 months and 2 weeks old!

7) He can't crawl the proper way yet but Wayne can do what i call his "bulldozer crawl"! Its really hilarious!! He started doing this just over a week ago. He'll lift his butt high up in the air with his face still buried on the ground, and he will bulldoze his way forward using his legs, pushing his face forward.

8) And just 3 days ago, he has progressed to the next stage of his 'learning to crawl' experience. Thanks to his daddy. He can now support himself on his fours in the normal crawling position. But instead of moving forward or backwards, he will just rock his butt front and back..

9) This is the unfair one.. when grandma is carrying him and she says "sayang grandma", wayne will affectionately lean his face against her chest. UNFAIR! Mommy doesn't even get that special treatment from wayne wayne!

10) And lastly, the heartwarming one... Wayne wayne started to smile in this really really cute way, with his eyes squinted and face all scrunched up. Not sure where he learnt this one from, (I suspect its from aunty vivien) but it melts mommy's heart each time he does that..... and sometimes, he even adds in his bruurrrr saliva playing action using his mouth, all while scrunching up his face, which just makes him the cutest cutest baby ever!

Happy happy seven months darling!! Kiss kiss!!!

Its getting harder to put you to sleep darling..

How I miss the times when we could just put Wayne in his cot, switch off all the lights in his room and he will just fall asleep by himself after a few minutes of playing. Easy peasy. =)

These days, it involves so much more effort.. lots of pacifying, swinging, rocking, humming, anything you can think of… and it still DOES NOT work. In fact he gets smarter and smarter each day. Once I switch off the lights, close his bedroom door and start humming his rock-a-bye-baby song, he knows. Its time to sleep and he does not want to and the ngeh ngeh ngeh protests starts!

And, from just a few days ago, he got even smarter. Now he knows where the entrance of the room is. He will start peering out of the door indicating that he doesn’t want to be in his dim room. He wants to go out to the living room where daddy is. And within a few minutes of him stretching his little body as far towards the door as possible, and you don’t move in that direction, the ngeh ngeh ngeh protests starts again! And that leads to wails if you still don’t get moving!

So.. after half an hour of trying to put him to sleep, we have resorted to letting him sleep with us on our bed. For the past 2 nights already that is. For some reason, if we put him on our bed, he will keep smiling. And spend the next ten minutes, flipping and rolling from corner to corner, till he is finally tired and he’ll then fall asleep in the most awkward position. Like with his neck far stretched out above him and his body curled backwards in the shape of a moon. And from then, he will sleep so soundly that when I carry him and place him in his cot he doesn’t even wake up.

Problem is he will get used to sleeping on our bed if we always allow him to.. so we are at a loss. How do we ‘train’ him to sleep in his cot by himself? Once, we let him cry in his cot, he continued crying for at least 20 minutes without stopping and of course, it broke our heart and we gave in. Once we picked him up, he looked at us so lovingly and broke into such a sweet smile, it totally melted our heart and I swore in my heart (at that moment), mommy’s not going to torture him like that anymore… =)

Its been 3 months shucks..

Its been a long time since my last blog entry.

I have been so caught up with work the past 2 months and 3 weeks I've hardly spent time with Wayne, much less blog about little Wayne.. But my busy period at work is finally over, yippee, and its catch up time now!!!

So over the next few weeks, I will diligently update on all the events revolving around Wayne the last two months. I hope I won't miss out much! If not Wayne Wayne will find it strange when he reads back about his first year and wonder why nothing much happened in his fourth, fifth and sixth month in this world. =p

Btw, for the record, my last post was on 21 August 2009 and all the posts in between 21 Aug and 13 Nov were all back dated!

Anyway, I'm just so glad that now I will be able to spend more time with Wayne. And hopefully I will be able to commence my 4 day work weeks!

Wonders of the baby carrier

Mommy’s back is breaking.

It is day three since we have moved into our new place. Daddy is very sick, down with some bacteria infection so mommy has been settling most of the stuff for the home myself. Together with Wayne Wayne actually. =) Though it has been really tiring on me, it has also been my one of my happiest moments, being able to spend so much time with Wayne.

Practically brought Wayne everywhere I went, to Centrepoint Robinsons to get the kitchen appliances, Starhub to settle the cable TV and internet, Best Denki for the household appliances, Expo for the Robinson sale..

Really, thanks to grandma and Elaine and Vivien for helping so much too. Hug hug! Family does matter!

And back home, I finally realized how useful the baby carrier is. Couldn’t leave Wayne alone to play (cos he refused to , not that I didn’t want to), so while mommy was magic-cleaning the floor, mopping, washing the clothes, hanging the clothes to dry etc, Wayne followed! Which is the reason for my back feeling like its breaking now. But at least it allowed me to get things done. And Wayne seemed pretty happy being in the carrier, following the directions of the mop, up down left right.. he will be an expert in household chores in no time! Yeah, I should train him to do all the housework so that we can rest! Anyway kids think such things are fun don’t they? Yeah, I think my little Wayne would enjoy it!

Our own home, yippee!

Today marks a special day for Wayne, mommy & daddy. After searching for so long, finally we have our own home! Although its only a rented place, it means so much to mommy. Now, we have our own place where Wayne Wayne can play and crawl around next time, where mommy can cook for daddy and Wayne, and daddy can relax at home with mommy & wayne. Ooooh I feel so happy!!!

So home is now a 2 bedroom unit at Carissa Park. Its very far, at Loyang, but we are happy & contented. =) It’s a 6 year old project, very well maintained, with a nice swimming pool and common area. Our particular unit is pretty well maintained too - clean and spacious - and most importantly, we had a feel good factor the moment we stepped into the unit.. In fact, we confirmed the unit with the landlord immediately after viewing the unit. On the spot. And 5 days later, we had moved in!!

The move was quite tough though cos we did not hire professional movers.. And how untimely.. daddy fell sick on Sunday night, so from Mon to Wed, mommy had to settle most of the stuff myself, like signing up for cable TV and internet, buying electrical appliances, pots and pans, and lots of other stuff. Thank goodness, Elaine and grandma was around to help me. But its all worth it! Cos now, we have an almost complete home, short of a few items only. Can't wait for the weekend to come, when we can relax and enjoy our new home.

Mommy is trying to make Wayne Wayne's room as nice & colorful as possible. Currently there is just a cot, a colorful bumper mat and a small storage cupboard. Waiting to hang up all the cute photos of Wayne on the wall and I think your room will look pretty cool for a small dude like you! You will love it baby.

Happy birthday mommy!

I had a pretty special birthday celebration this year. First time with Wayne. =)

Hk booked a room at Pan Pacific for us to chill out. This is not the first time booking hotels for birthdays (in fact, most birthdays we are in some hotel) but it felt special this time round, cos we had Wayne with us (and a baby cot in our hotel room – isn’t that cool! Or maybe just suaku).

I was feeling rather burned out from work the last couple of weeks, so this retreat was so timely.. I slept a lot. Just relaxed, drank coffee, ate junk food, watched tv, played with wayne and explored the hotel compound. Nice…

And we wanted to go swimming but there wasn’t a baby pool, so we had our own swimming party in our hotel room’s bath tub! A bit squeezy with chubby chubby Wayne, but it was still fun! I got a kick just seeing Wayne in his super duper funny froggy swimsuit. He has the cutest butt! Haha, Round and perky! And it smells so good! Girls are going to go gaga over your butt baby!!!

And to complete my perfect celebration, we had my family over!!! It made a difference, getting to spend my birthday with my perfect husband, perfect baby, and my perfect family!!!! Ok with the exception of daddy. He was in Bahrain, but at least he remembered to wish. =) Anyway, yes, mom and mich and elaine and viv and Kenneth all came over with a birthday cake! And we had a blast playing taboo in the room!!!

I’m now 29 and a very very very happy woman. =)

PS: Photos are all in fei yiyi's camera, to update when I get them from her!

Dashing in a tuxedo

I attended my first wedding dinner, my aunty Niki's wedding dinner at Amara Sanctuary & Spa at Sentosa. My mommy bought me a tuxedo romper to wear, don't I look dashing in it??

I fell asleep halfway thru the dinner but was awoken by the loud yum sengs! I got scared so I started crying, poor mommy & daddy had to accompany me outside the ballroom half the time! hehe!

Paedi visit at 6 months old

The clinic for kids nowadays are made so colorful and fun, filled with lots of toys, that even I as an adult feel happy coming here, what more a kid!

I think our Wayne enjoyed his little ride on that zebra or horse or whatever that is.. (I'm never good at this! i'll take a closer look the next time!). And, I liked the photos we took here so much cos they all look so colorful and cheery, making me happy just looking at them!

Report card at 6 months:
Weight 7.4kg (thats Wayne's friend, Mr octopus!)

Height 67cm (Still with Mr octopus!)

Head circumference 42cm

All measures around the 25 to 50th percentile. Not too worry though, as Dr Irene said, there are big babies and small babies, and our precious Wayne is just a wee bit smaller than others. And as what everyone else likes to say, as long as baby is healthy, thats all that matters. =)
