Yay, finally made my gynae appointment!

Finally made appointments to see 2 gynaes. Thanks Vien for recommending! And for even sharing the good about these 2 gynaes!

MD Specialist
Dr Lee Wei Hong
Mount Elizabeth

" This is my gynae and he’s been practicing for 18 years… He’s very good in that he is very gentle and patient (takes time to explain the details to you).

Also, in the event of a C-Section, he is good as he will be concerned about the aesthetic too. Won't anyhow cut and will make sure it’ll be nicely done. "

Fong's Clinic for Women
Gleneagles
Dr Fong Chuan Wee

" This doctor is also quite good and he has delivered many of the staff’s babies, even Dayan."

We decided on Dr Lee. =)

Excited yet apprehensive...

Although we both increasingly got a little more excited at the thought of having a baby, we realized that we were still quite scared cos from time to time, either one of us would be asking questions like.. “Do you think we can still go shopping along Orchard Road on weekends?” or HK would ask “Do you think I can still play soccer on Sunday mornings?” or “Do you think we can still go on our annual holidays” or weekend nice dinners, movies etc……..

And we both agreed that even with a baby, we’d still continue all these. With the help of our parents. I don’t know, maybe we are being too optimistic here. But we’ll try. =)

The realisation! Its sinking in!

I haven’t suffered from much morning sickness yet. Just tend to get hungrier more often. And I get the mild dizziness I realize normally after my meals –not sure if that’s part of the morning sickness or is that just me being paranoid? And, I am sleepy all the time! I really mean all the time! I just feel like lying on the bed and doing nothing. Just feel really lethargic half the time. Is that just me again??

After I am back from Amsterdam, I’ll be arranging for a gynae appointment. Then we’d probably know how many weeks pregnant I already am. I feel kinda nervous telling our family members about being pregnant without having met the gynae. I mean what if the gynae finds out that the foetus is not healthy or if there’s something wrong with my body? I’m being so worried here.

Anyway today, HK and I were at Parkway Parade and we dropped by Mothercare to have a look at prams out of curiosity. And wow, some were really expensive! Saw one that was about $1,800. Not cheap eh… but of course, it looked really good. And, I bought some baby clothes for Sharon, Pearly and Jean’s baby. Surprisingly for a guy, HK likes to shop for baby clothes too. He is always pointing out nice clothes and helping me choose. I love you HK, you are one special guy.

Its confirmed!

Quite timely that we were both on leave today, so the first thing after we woke up, we went to a GP just to confirm the test results. Then, we went over to my mom’s place to let her know. Went to Wild Rocket for dinner, and then headed back home to let HK’s parents know. They were all elated. Both sides first time grand parents. =)

And Elaine too, she couldn’t stop smiling after knowing.

The surprise! Or I mean the SURPRISE!

True to my womanly instincts, HK and I stared at the two vertical lines on the self test pregnancy kit… I tested positive, I was pregnant! We had a flurry of emotions... Panicked for a while. We were totally caught by surprise. We didn’t know how to react, we didn’t know what to feel. I just remember feeling really scared. And, HK trying to be brave in front of me but deep down I knew he was feeling scared as well. After all, we didn’t plan to have a child until after two years later. And having a child is not like getting a new toy where you can chuck it aside after a while. It’s the responsibilities, commitments and the total change in lifestyle that you will have to face up to. And, HK and I have only gotten married for 4 months!

Well, HK has always been the more logical one of us both, explaining to me why we should have the baby - his way of calming me down. After thinking it through, scared as we were, we just didn’t see any reason for us not to want to continue the pregnancy. Perhaps now thinking back, it seemed the only logical choice, but when the realization that I was pregnant sank in, it just didn’t seem as simple as it does now thinking back. But I’m glad we feel this way now. It took us one whole night to calm down and realize that yes, we are going to be parents soon!
