Mommy's 30 & we had a wonderful celebration!

This must have been one of my happiest birthdays. Every year I say that but I really was very very happy this birthday… Mommy loves birthdays. Mommy always feels so loved and happy and pampered.

First, mommy received this awesome birthday gift from mommy’s family.. a night’s stay at MBS where we had so much fun! Thanks all, you guys are the best!!! I loved this present!!

The view was breathtakingly awesome.. once we stepped into the room, the curtains drew open and wow, the view was of the city, with Fullerton hotel and the river in front us.. it was superb... and the night view even better with all the lightings..

The room was really spacious and nice, and the toilet simply huge with this stand alone bath tub that mommy loved.. The view from the 39th floor, taken from our room.. In the evening.. I think we must have spent most of our time by this full length window taking in the view... =p

That night, daddy together with mommy’s family gave me a surprise dinner celebration at Oscar’s at Conrad Hotel. Mommy and daddy got married here so anything to do with Conrad brings back special memories. Mommy thought it was dinner with just daddy and Wayne…so when we arrived at Oscars and mommy saw grandpa, grandma, mic, terry, viv, ken and elaine all there, mommy’s heart when jumping up and down!

Wayne enjoying his 'buffet' dinner too.. of many many different kind of biscuits (but this long stick was his favourite!!! He must have had at least 5 that night!) and fruits!

One, two, three and four.. mommy & my beautiful sisters! My pretty birthday cake! Designed by Viv.. all from the buffet counter!!
Wayne helping mommy blow the candle!
Thank you daddy & Wayne..
Thank you everyone!! 10 of us in our beautiful family!!
After dinner, we headed back to our room at MBS and then came the most touching part of my whole birthday celebration.. mommy was on the bed playing with Wayne Wayne when mommy’s eye drifted to the television and mommy saw the caption “Dearie’s 30th birthday” on the screen.. daddy had prepared a video montage of mommy’s life in the past few years before turning 30!!!! Photos of mommy and daddy dating, all our holidays together, our wedding, honeymoon and of wayne wayne joining us in the world and our lives together with wayne… it was so beautiful. Mommy was really touched by the effort daddy had put in in making this video montage….. Thanks daddy, that was truly awesome.
And mommy’s birthday card from daddy and Wayne, it was made by daddy and had photos of Wayne Wayne and daddy all over! Mommy loves it so much!!!

Mommy's VERY impressed you managed to get our impatient Wayne to take so many photos together with you!! My best birthday card ever!

The next morning on mommy’s actual birthday, we had breakfast at the MBS cafĂ© and then headed to the skypark and infinity pool which was so beautiful!! It was on the 57th floor and had the most spectacular view of the city!!! Wayne Wayne enjoyed playing in the pool!

The view from the edge..

And when Mommy thought my birthday celebration was over.. there was more! But this time, with daddy only! Daddy had sneaked in some romantic couple time with mommy! In the evening, daddy and mommy dropped Wayne at grandma’s and daddy brought mommy for an Italian dinner at Basilico’s!

It was a semi buffet meal.. appetisers and desserts were from the buffet counter while mains were from the menu. The food was good and the place quiet.. it was perfect as mommy just wanted to enjoy the night with daddy... Mommy ordered risotto for the main..
... while daddy had his steak!
And mommy's birthday present from daddy, a bag!!! *happy happy happy*
Thanks daddy!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks daddy for planning so many things for mommy!! It was a really beautiful celebration. After this, you are officially the best husband in the world!!!!

Thanks mom, dad, mic, terry, viv, ken and elaine too!! Turning 30 with the awesome view at MBS was wonderful!!!! I loved the stay, I loved the view, I loved the skypark and pool and I love you all!!!

Happy happy happy birthday to me!!!

Mommy’s 30 & it feels awesome

Mommy turned 30 this Monday, the big 3-0 age that all woman moan and groan about…. but for mommy – I just felt really happy and contented on my 30th birthday as I reflected back on my life all these years.

I have so many things to be thankful for and so many things that make me happy in life. I can’t help but be very grateful for everything that I have going for me in my life.

I have the most loving husband, who makes me laugh each day, who warms my heart doting on me, loving me, making me feel like this really awesome woman.. when I’m just me, with my flaws and all. No one makes me happier than you do. Thanks for tolerating all my nonsense, cheering me up when I am down and reminding me to keep my chin up when the going gets tough. You are my pillar of strength and my soul mate. I will always remember the day we exchanged our wedding vows, the day you made me the luckiest woman around. I love you lots.

My little precious Wayne, my sweet little boy, who makes mommy’s heart go all soft and mush each time I think of you and see you. You are so affectionate and loving, always so generous with your hugs and kisses, which mommy so adores. You fill mommy’s heart with happiness and complete mommy’s life. You teach mommy the meaning of life and you have taught mommy what it means to love unconditionally. Mommy will forever love you with all my heart and will always be there to protect you and stand by your side no matter what happens. Mommy loves you more than you will ever know, my little boy.

My beautiful family – mommy, daddy, mic, terry, viv, ken, elaine – I cant ask for more. I know you guys will always be there for me should I need you and for that I’m so thankful and blessed. Thanks for loving me, hk and wayne wayne the way you guys do. And to my mommy & daddy, thanks for always giving me your all.

I’m thankful for the good health we have now, and pray that we will all remain healthy, each and every single one of us.

I’m thankful that financially we are all doing well and pray that we will all continue to be blessed, each and every single one of us.

I’m thankful that each day when I wake up, I have a whole world waiting for me.

My resolution as I turn 30? I’m going to live life to the fullest, love the people I love to the fullest and make a choice to BE HAPPY each day!

Goodbye, take care Aunty Tern

After 9 years being with the family, Aunty Tern has decided to go home.. it was a tearful farewell…Aunty Tern kept crying at the airport, which made mommy and nai nai tear as well. From the first day mommy met Aunty Tern, mommy always felt a certain closeness to Aunty Tern. She was funny, nice, easy going and always treated mommy really well. So with some sadness, mommy said bye bye to Aunty Tern… 18 months – she has watched Wayne Wayne grow.. I’m sure she will miss Wayne Wayne. Maybe when Wayne is older, we can all make a trip to Surabaya and visit Aunty Tern?

Even as we took photos, Aunty Tern couldnt stop crying.. she couldnt force a smile out for the cameras...
So with a red packet that mommy & daddy & Wayne gave Aunty Tern as a parting gift, our way of saying thank you, Mommy wishes Aunty Tern lots of happiness as she returns to her family.. It has been a big sacrifice for her to be apart from her husband and daughter for so many years. As much as we loved her to be here, mommy thinks its time for her to go home and enjoy her time with her precious daughter.

Bye Bye Aunty Tern – we will meet again someday!!! Mommy will always remember you!

Mommy misses you

Hello baby, mommy misses you ..

Mommy's at work still, though its now 9:27pm.. yesterday mommy got home at 1130pm and Wayne Wayne was already sound asleep. When mommy reached home, mommy zoomed straight into the bedroom to see you. Mommy even gave you a big hug and kept smelling your cheeks and rubbing my face against yours, but little Wayne Wayne didnt even budge! Looks like Wayne Wayne has inherited mommy & daddy's 'sleeping like a log" trait..

This week, mommy would probably have to work late all week. Daddy will look after you, okie? Daddy will fetch you home, change you into your PJs, prepare your milk & accompany you to sleep. Be good to your daddy, baby.

You know something, darling? You turn 18 months old in just another 2 and a half hours!! Wow.. you are 1 and a half years old.. that sounds like a real big boy! Hmm.. you still cant talk. Oops. Hehe.

This weekend lets go somewhere real fun, oki?

Mommy loves you, my little precious boy.

A beautiful lazy Sunday afternoon...

Wayne with his many expressions!

We had one of the best afternoons today.. How nice if every weekend could be like today, the weather so clear and sky so blue.. and every weekend spent so relaxed, without a worry in the world..

And for daddy, that meant chilling with a glass of beer..
..and sharing an American breakfast set with mommy (although it was 4 in the afternoon! =p mommy's craving)
..and a refreshing, healthy salad..
Wayne was hoping he could share daddy's beer too..
but fat hope, not till you are 5 young man =p
This cafe we were in, it overlooked the harbour, with many many yachts all lined up.. it was simply beautiful! Reminded mommy & daddy of our honeymoon .. in Vancouver, the hotel we stayed in was just by the harbour too, and the view even more awesome than this..

Even Wayne enjoyed the view!
And walking by all the yachts!
Taking a rest, asking daddy to sit beside him..

And there was this open space by the sea where Wayne mommy & daddy just relaxed and enjoyed the view.. playing with little Wayne.. and looking at him walk around.. mommy couldnt help but notice how Wayne has grown.. maybe its the outfit today, Wayne seem to have grown up alot...

Whee.... up into the clear blue sky......

Chuckling away upside down..
Pointing to the sun.. and little Wayne followed!!!
Mommy loves these set of photos with the sun setting behind us..

Mommy loves this place so much! I love you Wayne!!

Snip snip snip..

Long overdue haircut for Wayne today... This is only the 3rd haircut for Wayne since birth.. hehe.. and Wayne's already 17 months old! The first time Wayne cut his hair, his eyes were glued to the Mickey Mouse cartoon playing on the screen in front of him, allowing the 'aunty' to cut his hair with no problems at all. The second time, it was quite a nightmare, as he wailed really loudly..

Third time today - a bit of a struggle initially, but a toy car & Thomas the Train did the trick. Good boy!

The "Grandfather" walk

This is Wayne's grandfather walk.. usually he does it with both his hands behind his back!

Video of playful Wayne

Another video to remind us how playful our little boy is @ 17 months! Mommy loves seeing Wayne laugh!

Shichida terms starts again!

3rd lesson today of Term 2 @ The Shichida Method. And whats special about this term? The fac that its daddy accompanying Wayne for classes every Saturday instead of mommy!

Mommy is real proud of daddy!

In fact, mommy thinks daddy is doing an even better job than mommy! Cos so far, daddy had not needed to bring Wayne out of the classroom in the middle of the class, which is good bcos that means Wayne neither cried nor insisted on coming out! Unlike how he sometimes does when mommy accompanied him last term. Well done, daddy!

Why daddy this term? Bcos daddy needs bonding time with Wayne! And its a real good way to bond with Wayne, while Wayne plays & learn at class. Hopefully by the end of the term, we see some visible results..

Oh this term, we also changed Wayne's class to Saturday from the previous Thursday.. and that means bye bye to Teacher Huiling, and.. hello to Teacher Marj!!!!

"Hello Teacher Marj!!!!!!!"

Yummy soupy pasta

Unlike porridge which takes quite a while to cook, mommy's really pleased with this new recipe for Wayne which takes barely 10 minutes to prepare, cook and serve!

1) Boil pasta in just a small amount of water

2) Throw in slices of fish and vegetable

3) Crack an egg into the soupy pasta

And, its ready to eat, in less than 10 minutes!!!

And the best thing is, Wayne loved it!!

Ouch.. Wayne's big toe hurts!

Wayne has had his fair share of falls in the past 17 months.. He fell off the bed 3 times in total (the first time at a wee 6 month old), dont ask me how it could happen AGAIN after the first time, but it did. And along the way, there were the knocks against chairs/tables/ cupboard/ toys/ anything..plus all the times he was walking at high speed and he just somersaulted, overturned, falling flat on the back of his head.. these kind of falls, it happens so fast, till now mommy hasnt managed to actually catch HOW that happened. One moment walking, next moment he is on his back on the floor wailing.

While Wayne had many such falls and knocks and bumps, it never involved any bleeding.. till today. Wayne was playing with our bedroom door and in his excitement he swung the door too quickly against his feet, which resulted in this cut on his big toe... with just the slightest bleeding... but enough to make mommy's heart skip a few beats. This injury - probably very minor in terms of severity - compared to falling off the bed knocking his head on the floor. But somehow, with the sight of blood.. it just makes it... painful to see.. *the heart i mean* Afterall Wayne is our precious little baby!!!!!!!!!!

No big deal.. I know I know.. its just really 'xing tong' to see someone so small and tiny getting hurt... especially when he's so cute & adorable! Haha. Anyway, yes, I do know, inevitably there will be more such falls and cuts and bleeding in future.. playing at the playground, playing 'catching' with his friends in school, playing football.. there will bound to be such falls. Mommy is just such a softie....

Sweetie pie Charmaine!

This is Wayne's friend - Charmaine!! Pretty Charmaine jie jie!!

Today we visited Aunty Cheryl, Uncle Danny & Charmaine jie jie at their new home! Mommy & daddy had a good time catching up with Aunty Cheryl & Uncle Danny & their super pretty & sweet Charmaine who is turning 5 years old in December!

Mommy & daddy recall celebrating Charmaine's first birthday in London back in 2006 when Charmaine was just a small little baby crawling around the apartment!! And, how fast little Charmaine has grown into this sweet and cute little girl, with the prettiest eyes ever!!! Just like her mommy aunty Cheryl! Mommy recalls how when we were in London, daddy made Charmaine burst out in tears by wearing a beanie over his head, scaring her!! And another time, daddy had used a toy knife to do a 'pedicure' for Charmaine, only to have her bursting out in tears again, as Charmaine thought daddy was going to cut her toes!!! Haha, those were really fond memories with the Chan family!

And, Wayne, as usual, upon seeing 'pretty girls' enjoyed hugging little Charmaine many many times!!

Hehe, in this photo, Charmaine was trying to get Wayne to smile using her fingers to 'force' Wayne to smile!!!!

2nd last vaccination

After 2 months of delay, finally Wayne took his MMR (measles, mumps & rubella) & Chicken Pox vaccination today. Mommy's really hoping Wayne wont react too badly to this vaccination which may cause high fever and rashes on Day 5 to 12... fingers crossed fingers crossed..

Another jab for his 5-in-1 next month and he'd have completed his routine jabs. Mommy's glad cos its really quite painful to see Wayne scream his lungs out when Dr Irene jabs his buttock. But well, mommy thinks of other children who are sick and can't imagine what these little children have to go through. It must be heartbreaking for their parents. Mommy & daddy will forever be grateful and thankful that Wayne Wayne was born a healthy little boy and mommy prays that Wayne Wayne will remain healthy always.

Today at 17 months and a half months, Wayne weighs 10.430kg and is 80.5cm tall. Thats more than half mommy's height now! And the weight explains mommy's backaches from carrying little Wayne! =)

Dr Irene asked mommy & daddy if we have any concerns regarding Wayne's development.. and while mommy shook my head, daddy couldnt help but ask.. "Is it normal that Wayne can't speak yet?"Hehe, daddy is very eager for Wayne to start yakking away!! Or worried?!! So Dr Irene said at this age, he should be able to say mama and papa and maybe one or two other words and on average, a child can say 3 other words (other than mama and papa) by 21 months! As Wayne was still communicating well in his sign language, Dr Irene says its nothing to be worried about. She did add that most kids these days are usually very fast!!! Well Wayne has 4 more months before he turns 21 months to catch up!

Dr Irene also asked if mommy had taught Wayne sign language! Cos when Dr Irene asked how does Wayne communicate he wants his milk, Wayne did the 'drinking' action with his hands. And when Dr Irene gave Wayne a packet of biscuits, he passed it to daddy & did his 'open' action with his hands (like pulling something apart). But no, mommy never taught little Wayne all these, little Wayne came up with these actions by himself!

Where's your driver's license, young man??

Some serious driving Wayne did here! Daddy actually allowed Wayne to drive the car.. for real. Sat on daddy's lap, daddy controlled the clutch and Wayne controlled the steering wheel! With daddy's help of course, and they parked the car! When the car started moving, Wayne was thrilled!!!! Check out the excitement in his eyes!!! All the past times Wayne got a chance to 'drive', the car was stationary.. but this time.. wow, the car moved!!!

Think this is Daddy's way of bonding with his little son.

Our date.. without Wayne =p

After a long while, daddy & mommy finally took a day off work for some 'dating' time (= without Wayne). Usually days off work meant family time bringing precious Wayne somewhere fun & new. So this Monday was somewhat special. Though mommy must admit feeling bad leaving Wayne out from our plans, it sure felt good spending some sweet moments with my dearest husband.

So we started the morning dropping Wayne off at nai nai's place, drove thru macs for our much too often ordered mcmuffin meal and zoomed off for our pre-booked, much needed.. spa treatment!! 3 hours of bliss, relaxation & pampering. After all the late nights at work & back aches from carrying 10.4 kg Wayne, this sure was helpful!

This time we opted for the Botanical Energy treatment which included an oil prep, lavendar floral exfoliation, shiatsu focus massage & remineralising mud therapy.

Gosh the best part for me was the awesome scrub. It was so thorough that I felt like all the dirt stuck to my body from the 'not so clean' baths I have taken over the past ten years were scrubbed off. Gone. Skin felt squeaky clean!!!! Really should go for this scrub every quarter - considering that I am always in a rush when I'm bathing ever since having Wayne or worse still, when Wayne throws a tantrum and wants to follow mommy into the bathroom when I'm bathing, not only must I bathe in half the time, I have to also entertain him through the shower screen in that already limited time.

And the great part was also that guests could use the lounge before & after treatments, where we could read magazines and sip on hot ginger tea. Splendid.........

So after spending 3.5 hours at the spa, we were famished and so headed to Dempsey for lunch and tea all in one at PS Cafe.. (hmm i miss the breakfast there), where we spent the afternoon, eating, reading and chatting. Reading the papers about the passing on of Kwa Geok Choo, touching moments there - reading excerpts of interviews by the Lee family. You know, I always say its such a luxury to be able to chill in cafes these days, having coffee, reading a magazine or good book... cos Wayne will never allow you to do that in peace. Haha. So thats exactly what we did on this lazy Monday afternoon.

And somehow, I'm not sure if it was the effect of the massage or a result of the hard work the past week in office, that both HK & I were bushed by the evening.. so we skipped our dinner, and went home for a nap before picking Wayne up. Hmm.. we should really do this more often. =)
