Sydney Holiday - Day 6

Today marks a real special day of our trip - our little boy turns 2 years old in Sydney! Its Wayne Wayne's birthday! And today, was the best day of our trip!!! We spent the day in Blue Mountains and it was our most enjoyable day of the whole trip! Not sure if it was the beautiful scenic mountain, our fantastic hotel or the fact that it was our boy's birthday, but together, it made today rank number one of all our days in Sydney.

We started our day early, driving 3 hours from Hunter Valley to Blue Mountains. We stopped by Macs, grabbed breakfast and headed straight to the mountains.

Upon arriving at Blue Mountains, we were taken in by the beautiful scenery. Our hotel room was not ready so we quickly headed to Echo Point, not wanting to waste any time at all! The walk there itself was so scenic. Being autumn, the trees were all in such pretty shades of orange and red. It was just beautiful. We strolled, played with Wayne, and felt contented that we could enjoy the pretty scenery together.

At the 'Road Builders Memorial'

Excited, we finally arrived at the breathtaking Echo Point, to view the Three Sisters and the amazing amazing view. There's just something about mountains, in a pretty shade of blue, that made mommy & daddy feel like we were on top of the world... literally.

Mommy & daddy wished we could have extended our stay here for more than a night. It would be really something to be able to spend one whole week here, taking in the view, going for hikes and appreciating the spectacular view. We would definitely love to be back here.

Little Wayne must have felt something different too, as he was in such a happy mood. The weather was quite cold up in the mountains, which made it perfect for Wayne to be in his super cute Adidas jumper set. Wayne looked so cute in them!!!!! Adorable! Wayne had a blast in the open space, running around, playing with mommy & daddy and being the cheeky boy that he is.

Sharing a happy moment with mommy

We were looking forward a lot to our hotel stay here as we had read so many good reviews about the hotel, the Lilianfels Blue Resort. True enough, it did not disappoint! Mommy & daddy were so delighted with the hotel... its location was perfect, it was a 3 minute walk to Echo Point where the famous Three Sisters were located. And the rooms were just lovely. I'll let the pictures do the talking here. But it was really the best hotel room mommy has seen! Everything was so pretty in the room, each individual piece of furniture so carefully picked and matched together. No wonder why it was voted the best hotel in Katoomba.

This little birdie soft toy, which we brought home, as daddy insisted it was complimentary from the hotel... only to receive a charge for S$55 on mommy's credit card bill the next month when we were back in Singapore.

After Echo Point, we were off to Scenic World which was just a short drive away. We were going to experience the steepest incline railway in the world!! We opted for the Valley Return tickets which entitled us to a ride into the valley on the Scenic Railway and out of the valley via the Scenic Cableway.

The railway was really really steep, so much so that daddy had to hold on to the top of the train when we were descending in order not to slide forward! It was quite an experience, though it was way too short!!!

And in between the ride in and out of the valley, we got to enjoy a scenic boardwalk through a rainforest. The view was awesome.

After the ride, we then decided to explore the Katoomba town, which was really made up of just a few rows of shops... to hunt for Wayne's birthday cake!!! Yay!!! There were a few bakeries in the small town and we managed to get a small brownie cake for Wayne Wayne!!! We also bought our dinner and were looking forward to spending the night in our hotel room which mommy so loved!!!

And then we had Wayne's birthday celebration!!! Wayne was so happy and excited to sing his birthday song and cut his cake! He was laughing all the way and happily clapped his hands while mommy & daddy sang Happy Birthday to our precious boy. It was such a happy moment together.

Bliss.
