Birthday special I - All about the PARTY!

Mommy started preparing for Wayne's little party since a few month's back! Initially it was just a lot of surfing of the internet, trying to get ideas, finding out more on what is in the market. As the weeks went by, mommy got more of an idea on the theme and stuff to prepare for your party. Of course, as usual, mommy being my normal indecisive self, the actual booking, ordering and confirmation was only done in the last month before your birthday! Many late nights were spent for sure!

And mommy really needs to thank fei yiyi, san yi, da yi, grandma, ting ah yi and yen yipo for all their help!!!! Without them, mommy couldnt have managed!

Here are some details of the party!!!!

Venue
Finally after much scouting, we settled on the function room at the place where we are staying currently - Carissa Park! =)

We were searching for somewhere nice outside but either it costed a bomb or had constraints on the number of people we could invite. Mommy would have loved to have little Wayne's party at Conrad, at the glass function room which was beside the pool.. Mommy thought that would be really meaningful as 2 years ago, mommy & daddy got married there..but it was so expensive! So mommy had to drop that idea.. But I'm glad I did cos the function room turned out a great place!

Guest lists
There were our family, relatives and many friends.. The list kept getting longer and longer.. And it finally ended with about 110 people!!! We just wanted to thank everyone who had blessed us and Wayne in the past one year since Wayne came into this world!

Party decorations
This was the really fun part! Mommy ordered your party decorations online and got them shipped all the way from the States! There were so many party themes to choose from on line, it was so fun and exciting!!! Finally decided on the animal farm theme with lots of moo moo cows! Wayne Wayne was born in the year of the Ox afterall - so this made a meaningful first year birthday theme for Wayne! And besides, the moo moo cow was one of the first animals that Wayne Wayne could recognise at around 6 months old!

So there were the party banners, helium balloons, napkins, paper plates, cups, table clothes, happy birthday banner, party bags, thank you notes, party horns - all in the moo moo cow theme! And to top it all off, mommy got some white and baby blue balloons to complement the color scheme!

Balloons
Wayne really loved the balloons! There were four moo moo cow balloons, eight animal farm first birthday balloons - these were from the States- and also white and blue balloons which daddy, fei yiyi, grandma and ting ah yi blew by themselves!!

Hehe, the day before the party, we had to bring the foil balloons to town to fill with helium and fei yiyi used san yi's car to bring them home and it was such a funny sight, cos the whole car was filled with balloons!

Eh how come fei yiyi is not flying up even though she's holding Ssooooo many helium balloons?????

Kids Goodie bags
Chocolates, sweets, lollipops, jellies - we had them all! All prettily packed into the party bag which mommy ordered in the same animal farm theme too. And to put the goodie bags in, mommy decorated a basket with pretty ribbons and topped it off with the thank you card on top! Each kid had one!

Each bag was sealed with a pretty ribbon and thank you card which mommy, daddy and fei yiyi designed, printed and cut all by ourselves! The thank you note had the wordings "Thank you for celebrating my first birthday with me! Lots of love, Wayne".

Thank you gift pack for guests
And for the adults, we prepared chocolate chip biscuits which we lovingly packed into plastic wrappers, tied sweet blue and white ribbons round each pack and attached the thank you note on. A small little token from mommy, daddy and Wayne to thank all our guests for coming to celebrate Wayne's party with us and for their red packets and presents. Mommy thought it looked really pretty.

We spent a lot of time packing the biscuits but it was worth it. Mommy really have all my family members to thank for all their help that day! Including my cousins and aunty as well! On the morning of the party itself, they all came over really early to help mommy pack all the biscuits - thanks so much everyone!!!

Cupcakes
This was courtesy of sweet Aunty Shimin!! Thank you Aunty Shimin!!! Big hug from Wayne Wayne and mommy!

The cupcakes were so pretty!!! It was in pale yellow and blue color and on each cupcake was a letter and it spelt out "HAPPY BIRTHDAY WAYNE WAYNE!". The cupcakes even had pretty white and yellow flowers on them! That was such a sweet present from Aunty Shimin!!!!

And to display them for everyone to see, we placed them on a 3 tier cupcake stand decorated with pretty ribbons and the thank you card!

Birthday cake
A lot of research was done to ensure we had a really nice birthday cake for Wayne's first party!! Mommy dropped by many bakeries to find out about the cakes - Patissiere, Canele and many online blogs - and finally decided on Cupcake Divinity which was recommended by mommy's colleague!

Wayne's first birthday cake turned out beautiful! It was really cute, also in the animal farm theme with lots of moo moo cows! It was a two tier 3.5kg fondant chocolate cake, very colorful and cute! Mommy & daddy loved it!

Loved all the cute animals and figurines which were made of sugar icing to decorate on the cake! And it had Wayne's name on the cake as well as happy 1st birthday wordings!

Ohh and the candle on the cake - that was ordered by mommy on line as well!

Thanks da yi for helping us collect the cake from Hougang early in the morning of Wayne's party!

Buffet
We ordered our buffet spread from Ivins, favourite restaurant of our family! =) Hope all our guests enjoyed the food - mommy hardly ate anything that day!

Photographer
Alex was our photographer for the party! Thanks Alex! He was really sweet, when he arrived he saw us still putting up the decorations and helped us too!! And guess what, not only did he give us all the photos he took in a disc, he also did a slideshow of the highlights in a DVD, that was such a nice surprise!
