On your marks, get set, go!

An event that Wayne has been looking forward to for weeks, it was finally the day of the Cold Storage Kids Run! It was Wayne's first run.

We woke up early on Sunday morning and mommy prepared Wayne's breakfast of bread jam with Ribena. Apparently, no milk before the race, instead non-acidic juice is advised. Daddy and Wayne changed into their jerseys and wore their race bibs. We reached the Padang at 9am, ahead of our race timing at 950am.

The Padang was filled with children and there was also a carnival with lots of games to entertain the children. There were many race categories, some competitive and some not. Wayne was in the 'Singapura Finance Blue Sky Chase' category (what a name!), for kids aged two to four. Though it was non-competitive, I think Wayne and his daddy took the race really seriously! Haha.

Crazy over clothes!

A sea of whites and pinks and all things sweet!!!!

Mommy's so delighted shopping for baby girl's clothes!! All so pretty and sweet.  So far just two sessions of shopping for baby girl, but look at how many mommy has already picked out for her!! And these are seriously just some of them only.

You see there was a sale at Chateau, and mommy just went crazy grabbing stuff for baby girl, and searching for some for Wayne and Gabriel. Most of the clothes were for girls, and sizes above 2 years were really limited, so thats why baby girl had the biggest share. Anyway I think that will probably be the trend moving forward regardless.  The sale was really good, mommy loves the clothes at Chateau and they were going at such cheap prices mommy couldn't help but feel extremely delighted with the purchases. In total we bought 29 pieces for $350.

29 pieces!!!! *H-A-P-P-Y!!!*

Gabe Gabe also had some! Though boy's clothes were very limited, mommy still managed to pick out some comfy pieces for Gabe, with one being a matching piece with Wayne's.

And the below few were those we purchased online, finally they have arrived!! Mommy loves them all!

My 4th Mother's Day

It is Mother's Day. A special day to appreciate us mommies.

A year back, Wayne still could not speak in sentences and was not able to wish me. How different it is this year - Wayne wished mommy Happy Mother's Day and planted many kisses on my face (And sang me a birthday song for some reason!).

Mommy is proud to be your mommy, darling. Mommy only hopes that I am doing a good enough job bringing you up, my little sweetheart. Although I know in your eyes, I will always be the best, no matter how lousy a job I am doing. Mommy hopes you will always feel that way, and that will be enough for me. I love you, xiao Wayne Wayne.

In school, my little boy with the help of his teachers, prepared a heart shaped pancake and a pretty necklace made of pasta. Thank you Wayne & Mindchamps!

Wayne proudly put this pasta necklace around my neck when I picked him up from school and although mommy was in my work wear and we were shopping at Paragon, mommy proudly wore the necklace (despite daddy's weird stares at me).  That's motherhood for you.

We also didn't forget to celebrate Mother's Day for our precious mommies. Now that I have become a mommy, I can fully appreciate the love and sacrifice our mommies have showered upon us. Nothing is greater than a mother's love indeed.

We ordered this set of pretty cupcakes for both sides of our mommies. At HK's side, we celebrated Mother's Day over a nice dinner together with the family at Tunglok. And at my side, we had the family over for lunch where we cooked a simple curry chicken meal, a potato dish and made a chocolate cake dessert with the family.

Thank you both for everything you have done for Wayne, HK and I. We love you both lots.

Thank you Viv and Ken for the ultra pretty flowers!!! Love it lots!!!

And to Mic in Japan, Happy Mother's Day to you too!! Hope you had a wonderful day with Gabe!! You have been one of the strongest mom I know, and you are doing such a good job. Although Gabe can't say it yet, I bet he's wanting to tell you how much he loves you!!! See you very soon!!!!

Cold storage kids run.. one more week!

Wayne has been looking forward lots to this event for weeks now! He is so competitive!!! He has been watching so many videos and has heard so many stories about races involving his trains, that when we told him there was this kids run he has been so excited over it! Its not really a race... just a kids run.. but to him, its like a big race. Thanks to Daddy for hyping him up so much the past few weeks. Haha.

This Saturday, we went to collect his race pack, one more week to the race on the 20th! Mommy & lots of people will be cheering daddy and Wayne on in his 800m dash!! It is really quite far for a 3yo isn't it?? Daddy and Wayne will be in matching jerseys and they also have matching bibs with the nick "Chanster" on the bibs!!

Mommy sure hopes Wayne will enjoy the event lots!!!

Cooking up a storm

As part of our wedding anniversary celebration, this was something mommy had planned months ahead to give daddy a surprise. Mommy wanted to do something fun together with daddy, and so decided to enroll us both for a cooking class!

Daddy was quite apprehensive initially but it turned out to be great fun, and daddy is already planning his next class to learn more!

The studio where we had our cooking session.. Mommy & daddy were so impressed with the set up and it contributed to the whole experience

In that three hours, we covered three dishes :

The first was a salad, where we also learnt how to prepare a salad dressing from scratch

Second, was a chicken stew which was really easy to prepare but yet looked pretty impressive. Perfect for having guests over for meals!

And the third, was the warm chocolate cake, which turned out so yummy

And here we are, all ready to start!!

Chef Jimmy Chok - quite a charismatic guy, who put us all at ease with his easy going nature and jokes. Good for daddy, who was probably quite stressed being the only guy in the room and not knowing much about cooking

Mommy in action! All ready with the half chicken.. but ended up struggling with the basics of cutting the chicken into pieces

Daddy clearly enjoying his chicken stew creation

Preparing the salad dressing

All eager to watch the demo - it looked so simple yet so difficult when it was our turn to prepare!

Yummy warm chocolate cake..

The chicken stew which we made

Us, at the end of the session - happy, satisfied and feeling so motivated to pick up cooking! This turned out to be such a good experience!

4 years and counting!

Seven and a half years back, daddy once gave mommy the sweetest promise:

Our relationship is a dream, a beautiful, not a run of the mill typical story. I want this to be a fairytale, and it'll be. Trust me. I love you. With all of me.

Three and a half years later, on the tenth of May 2008, daddy and mommy got married and committed our lives to one another.

Today, daddy and mommy celebrates our fourth wedding anniversary.  It has been just four years but we have experienced much joy together, with Wayne playing a big part of these four years. And a little baby girl joining us in just two months.  We are thankful to have each other in our lives and each year, on this date, we take that extra effort to pause from our busy lives and just... appreciate each other, pamper each other and love each other.

We took the day off work, two days actually, and did all the things we have been wanting to do but didn't have time to. It was nothing spectacular but we were very happy. It reminded mommy of our dating days,  just the two of us and so in love.

We had brunch together, we chatted, we relaxed

We went shopping, we picked out presents for each other

Daddy was made happy with new shoes

And mommy was made happy with new earrings

We had a durian feast at Goodwood Park Hotel..

While we chilled at the hotel lounge

We shopped and mommy got surprised with a bouquet of flowers mid way

And we had a nice romantic dinner to end the day

Happy fourth wedding anniversary to us both!

Bestie in school

Finally a photo of Wayne and his best friend Micaela! Micaela is from Peru and mommy has heard so much about her from Wayne and his teachers. Wayne would always tell us that Micaela is his best friend and that he loves to hug her. Miss Afiqah also told mommy that the two love to play with each other all the time.

Today, Miss Daya told mommy that Wayne and Micaela kept pretending to shower for each other in the classroom. Wayne would pretend to put shampoo on Micaela's hair and wash her hair and then Micaela would do the same for him. So sweet.

Oh yes, today mommy & daddy dropped by his class around 11am and peeped into his classroom to see how Wayne was doing. We were so proud to see him participating actively in class. While other kids were playing and struggling to follow what Miss Afiqah was teaching, Wayne sat right in front listening intently and answering the questions that Miss Afiqah asked. Mommy's heart beamed with pride at my little boy. Until, oops.... Wayne caught a glance of us at the door and came running out. Uh oh... not our intention.. but too late. So we spent a bit of time with him, telling him we were so proud of him and hurried him back into the class. But Wayne started to tear, sad that mommy & daddy were leaving again. And the principal quite politely told us its not advisable to pop by like that as its hard for the child to get back into routine again. Okie... lesson learnt. No more doing that. Mommy's fault.

In the evening, when mommy arrived, Wayne was happily having snacks with all his friends. In the photo below, clockwise from Wayne, that's little Raye, who is adapting really well given that its only his third day in school, next is Wing Lok or fondly known as "Le Le" and Micaela. Wayne and Micaela were sharing their food with each other, it was a sweet sight.

For gourmet session today, Wayne proudly showed his 'fish' sandwich to mommy. It must be quite fun for the children, they helped to cut the bread into triangles, spread tuna on the bread and placed tomatoes in between the bread, making the sandwich into a fish shape.

Knowing how happy Wayne is in his class, mommy feels a bit sad that we have to put him through the stress of changing to another school next year. Hoping somehow that we can stay put at this Paragon branch.  We'll see.

Diet control??

I thought pregnancy is the only time when you can eat all you want and not worry about anything. Apparently not. Dr Lee has put me on diet control… can you believe it?? All because baby girl is now 2 weeks bigger than her right size.

We went to Dr Lee for our long awaited routine check-up. Long awaited because the last time we saw baby girl was a month ago. How mommy misses you, little girl! Happy to know you are growing well.. a bit too well, as now mommy needs to control my food intake, especially all the sugary sweet stuff which mommy so loves. In another 2 weeks, I will have to go for my thyroid and glucose blood test and we will see baby girl in another 3 weeks.

I am now at 53kg, up 2 kg since the last month. And that makes it about 5.5kg I have put on since the start of the pregnancy.

This pregnancy is not entirely smooth sailing, today Dr Lee assessed that my uterus was hardening, due to baby growing too fast and too big, so I need to rest more, walk less, eat less and take some pills to soften the uterus (sigh.. more pills!). Also, discovered a lump at my underarms which I need to get checked out tomorrow. Dr Lee is not worrying much about that as it looks more like a lymph node inflammation rather than a tumour, though he has still ordered me to go for a breast ultrasound tomorrow … just-in-case.

Anyway, despite all these, I’m still feeling very happy and excited over baby girl. Am really looking forward to all the preparation in the coming two months .. and to finally holding baby girl in my arms. 14 July 2012. That's the planned date….. for now. =)
