4th birthday party with friends @ Mindchamps

20th April 2013 - it's Wayne's fourth birthday!!!

Wayne of course was really excited and happy to celebrate his birthday with his friends in school. Having spent more than a year now at Mindchamps, he has grown really attached to Mindchamps, his teachers and his many friends there. And mommy and daddy has been really proud of Wayne, seeing how much he has grown in school.

This year, being the ever loyal Thomas and Friends fan, again Wayne chose to have his birthday cake in the Thomas theme. "Mommy, I want my cake to be blue in color and with chocolate inside" he specifically requested. And he also asked for a magician to be at his party because (in Wayne's words) "it is so much fun!!". And fun, it definitely was!!! The kids had so much fun laughing away, and Wayne enjoyed himself through and through.  We were glad we indulged in this request from him.

Mr Jasper, the magician, was really good and Miss Deanna commented that he was one of the best she has seen so far. He entertained and made the Champs laugh for an hour and a half. Mr Jasper also impressed us with the elaborate balloons he made for each and every one of the Champs. Mommy's favorite was the ladybird he made. Wayne chose to have his in a racing car and airplane. Lili laoshi commented on how dedicated he was in perfecting every balloon sculpture he made.

In the 2 hours we were there, we took so many photos and here are some to remember the party by.

The magic show - all the Champs gathered in front, excited!
'Can you show us some magic, yet???' Jake hurried Mr Jasper!
Loving Wayne's laughter
Birthday boy treat - getting to perform some magic for his friends. Wayne was a mix of nervousness, shyness and excitement.
Magic coin appearing miraculously in his hand
And more magic coins appearing from his underarm!
Mei mei getting to experience a little magic too

After half an hour of magic, the next hour was spent on balloon sculpting. Little pressies for each Champ to bring home as part of the celebration.

We prepared Milo for each of the kids to have with the birthday cake and while waiting, the kids managed to entertain themselves by pretending the Milo packets were telephones!

Happy birthday my little sweet boy!

Wayne happily distributing the party bags to each of his friends
He diligently went round asking if everyone had gotten one
With Mr Jasper - thanks for the fantastic time with the kids, and for bringing much laughter to all of us

And lastly, with all his friends and teachers!!! The people influencing Wayne's lives every day and making his early school years so fun and enjoyable!

 Happy fourth birthday, precious!

Micaela's birthday celebration

7 April 2013

It was Micaela's fourth birthday celebration!

Being the princess girl that she was, of course her party had to be in the princess theme. Even before her birthday, Wayne had already told us to buy a Snow White present for his little friend, and so we did!

Her party was held at her home in Sentosa, and it was indeed well planned, with a pretty princess birthday cake, lots of balloons, popcorns and jellies and chocolates for all the little children.

The highlight of the party was the magician that Micaela's mommy arranged to entertain the kids. He made the children laugh non-stop! Spot Wayne, in his blue shirt, sitting beside the birthday girl Micaela. Quite a few of the Champs turned up as well - there was Conrad, Lele, Raye, Jake, Emma to name a few..and even two of their teachers.

Balloon sculpting time was also a hit with the kids. While the girls chose teddy bear and heart shaped balloons, Wayne wanted his in the shape of a gun, and later proceeded to play 'shooting' with the rest of the boys. (Sigh!)

And here is a video of Micaela, Emma and Wayne playing together.

Thank you Micaela for inviting us to your princess party!  Happy fourth birthday to you!

Really like this photo of both of them, looking really sweet together. I think Wayne will really miss you when you return home to Sweden in a months time!

Growing up in school

21 March 2013

One of my happy mommy days - when I'm not swamped with work and am able to pick Wayne up from school. It's been a long while. So much so that it really made Wayne's day when he saw me. He was so excited he ran and told three of his teachers that 'my mommy fetch me from school today yay yay yay'. It almost made me feel guilty for not doing this more often.

He told me he wanted to finish listening to the story laoshi was telling the kids and though it was almost 630pm then, I gladly obliged.

Story telling time - Wayne's favorite activity in school
And I was glad I did, as I got to see how Wayne played with his friends, how they sweetly hugged each other.. and I enjoyed all the 'kiddo chats' with Wayne's friends, especially Felicia whom I've seen grown up together with Wayne since a year ago.

Felicia, Jung, Wayne, Darnelle and Aiden
Wayne even took a photo of me with Felicia and Raye, which he proudly showed his friends. He found it amusing, telling his friends 'my mommy in the photo with my friends - so funny, correct?' He went giggling with his hands covering his mouth, something he likes to do very often these days.

Not too bad a photo for a 4 year old!
And once the photo-taking started, one by one all the kids squeezed beside Wayne all wanting to be in the photo .. And so 9 in the photo - ultra cute! Love them little kids!

Another thing mommy really enjoys when visiting his classroom is to admire the Champs artwork and to spot my little boys creation.

And this is his. (Actually when I saw this, I was thinking.. "So simple?" Hehe. But I guess they must have been learning about numbers and so this choice of artwork.)

Finally to end the day, laoshi brought bubbles out, which made all the kids go crazy. It was hilarious watching them scream while trying to catch bubbles!

I captured it on video to share - enjoy!!

Ill, once more

As if work wasn't taking enough of precious time away from the kids, I had to fall ill again, which meant quarantining myself from the two sweeties yet again (Can't help but smile (though delirious) as I type the word sweetie because just last week Wayne told me out of darling, precious and sweetie, he loves for me to call him sweetie the most. What more could I ask for than such a sweet boy? Hk often says given my nature where affection is of such importance, I'm so fortunate to have Wayne who would always warm my heart with his sweet nothings. The boy is smart, he knows what drives mommy's heart.. Not surprisingly he gets away with most things with me. ).. Three days to be separated from the kids, I struggled to complete my work deliverables the past two days in my state of grogginess, while missing Wayne and Amanda loads.

Someone tell me when this merry go round of sickness will end?

It's going to be tough weeks ahead - with the husband on reservist for two weeks, me away on business trip for a week and 2-gor away on holiday for a month.

Praying I recover wholly by then and stay healthy to take care of the entire family.
