Bruised by a mosquito?

We got this note from Wayne's teacher when we picked him from school today.

We did notice a slight bruise below Wayne's eye and when we asked him what happened, if he fell or if he knocked into something in school, he insisted he did not and that he got bitten by a mosquito. He even told us ye ye's house has many mosquitoes, consistent with what he told his teachers earlier. But obviously we could tell it was NOT a mosquito bite.

So after dinner, daddy continued his interrogation and finally Wayne told daddy that Raye had hit him, because he had 'disturbed' Raye.

What bothered us was not so much that Raye had hit him, I guess its inevitable with kids playing with each other and its part and parcel of growing up in school. Its actually the fact that he tried to cover up the incident that got us worried. He didn't cry nor tell his teachers he was hurt. And mommy can only guess that perhaps he was afraid his teachers would scold him for 'disturbing' Raye?

We had to spend quite a bit of time explaining to Wayne that he shouldn't be telling lies and that what he did was not the right behavior. We told him he had to tell his teacher whenever someone hit him or when he was hurt. And that he had to always tell the truth. I hope he now knows what is right and wrong.

After telling us the truth, he even joked about it, telling me that he meant the mosquito was Raye.  -_-

The next day, when we brought Wayne to school, Miss Deanna asked if we managed to find out from Wayne what exactly happened, so I told her what he said and Miss Deanna similarly, asked Wayne to let her know the next time something like that happens or when he was hurt. She also told me that she will talk to Raye and remind him not to hit others. I was happy with the way Miss Deanna handled the situation and the fact that she noticed his bruise and informed us of it through the communication book.

So, my four year old boy is now capable of making up stories. Its yet another phase of growing up to handle.

I love you, my sweet boy. =)

  1. ahahah, mozzie, funny Wayne...but u know, at first i thought from the teacher`s note, it sounded like perhaps Wayne was being abused at home*)...ahahah

But you know what given Wayne`s personality i thought maybe he didn`t wanna rat his friend out. He`s so loving and kind, so he prob didn`t wanna get Raye in trouble...right Wayne..sweet boy
