Wayne woke up at 745am, drank his milk, brushed his teeth and was eager to put on his school uniform - it was a good start!
We took a few photographs at home to remember the day!
And what Wayne would be having for breakfast, snacks and lunch! Looks yummy - chocolate mantou for breakfast and chicken hor fun for lunch!
When we arrived, Wayne took off his shoes, placed it in his shoe cabinet and off he ran to the classroom.. but not before he gave daddy a hug and said his goodbyes. And had his temperature taken and mouth, hands and feet checked by the teachers for HFMD.
Wayne arrived just in time for breakfast.. food never fails to make our little one happy! He took a sip of the Horlicks and told mommy that was 'cheese'.. hmm... Turned out, no, Wayne actually enjoyed the rest of the class better!
These photos were taken during the Chinese session, where the teachers showed them a black puppy puppet hiding in a box. Wayne got curious and forgot about mommy for a while, starting his participation in class. The teacher then gave each of them a dog bone to feed the puppy.

The teacher then showed them a chicken paper cut out that they made together a couple of days ago and fed the chicken some corn strips. Wayne was laughing away as the teacher let the chicken 'eat' the corn. Mommy was relieved Wayne seemed to be liking the activities. Throughout the whole Chinese session, both teachers spoke in Mandrin and mommy was amazed to see a Japanese and Western student being able to speak in Mandarin too. Wayne turned to me and said "Wayne dont like Chinese". =p

The kids then had their morning snack of watermelons. Wayne followed instructions and sat down patiently for his share.
He finished his share and ran up to the teacher to my surprise and asked for another piece. Looks like Wayne was getting quite comfortable with the teachers.
And then he ran up to the teacher again and mommy was going to stop him from asking for another piece, only to have him explain that he had finished and was returning the cup to the teacher. Hehe. He was also quite the busybody, when his classmates didnt return their cups, he went to the other tables and took their cups back to the teacher for them.
After snacks, they then played with some building blocks. Wayne played rather independently, occasionally checking that I'm not too far away from him. Mommy was very happy with his progress so far.
The next session was when Teacher Serene went through the day, date and months of the year. And Wayne made mommy laugh alot this session. For Wayne turned out to be a KIA (know-it-all) kind of boy. Oh dear. When Teacher Serene went through the months of the year and it came to April, Wayne suddenly ran up to the front of the room (we were seated at the back of the group) and told Teacher that April was his birthday month, pointing excitedly at "April"!
And again, when the teacher explained that it was the first of March that day, Wayne ran to the front of the classroom to point out the number one.... and he'd run back to mommy at the back of the room, looking all pleased with himself.
Then the teacher taught them a bit about numbers. Wayne sat at the back of the class with mommy beside him. Mommy could tell Wayne was really interested in the session. He paid attention to what Teacher Serene was saying.
When Teacher Serene asked what she was holding, Wayne shouted very loudly "clothes peg!" from the back of the class. And when she asked what number was written on the plate, Wayne again went "Two!" happily.
In this photo, you'd notice, when Teacher brought out the plate with Number 3 on it, Wayne was busy trying to make the number 3 with his fingers...
So that when teacher finally asked what number it was, Wayne would be all ready to shout "Three!" lifting his fingers high in the air!
Then it was story telling time, which was another of Wayne's favourite.
And finally LUNCH time!Mommy managed to coax him into staying in the room but he refused to sleep, crying away. It was also at that time that Dad arrived from work to see how Wayne was doing. Dad was on half day leave. So we decided to leave the school at about 1pm and return after the kids woke up (and the lights switched on again). We had our lunch with Grandma who had come to town to shop. Dad also bought Wayne a set of Thomas & Friends train set to reward him for being a good boy at school.
At 3pm, we were back in the school for another 2 hours of activities, which included both the Chinese and English session.
Hooray for Wayne's first day at school!
