Second day's challenge

After a successful first day at school, Teacher Serene recommended that we allowed Wayne to stay in school by himself for half a day on Day 2. Mommy was so nervous. On one hand, I know its a matter of time before he has to start, yet on the other hand, mommy's heart ached. Anyway, we did it.

So in the morning, mommy told him repeatedly that he has to stay in school by himself while mommy goes to work. Mommy tried to re-assure him that I will definitely pick him after he had his lunch. He started to wail when I was about to leave.. Mommy loved him for another 5 minutes before the teacher picked him up and asked me to leave.

Wayne screamed his lungs out and I saw him hitting the Teacher. Mommy teared but forced myself to step away, hearing his cries and screams behind me. Softy mommy. Daddy shaked his head. He knew that would be what happened. Can't help it, daddy.

I was so upset and worried, I nearly tripped while wearing my shoes. And when my phone rang, I jumped and frantically searched for my handphone, almost dropping it. Was worried it was the school telling us that Wayne couldnt stop crying. Turned out was someone else.

Waited and waited till it was 1130am, couldnt resist, called the school to ask how Wayne was doing. Breathed a sigh of relieve when Clare told me he was feeding himself and talking to his teacher in class. At noon, mommy peeped into his classroom and saw him talking and laughing with Teacher Serene. I broke into a huge grin. My little boy did it! He seemed to be happy. Mommy quickly asked daddy to peep into the classroom to see our little boy.

When I finally went in to pick him, Wayne ran to me and gave me a buge hug. He immediately told me he did many things in class. He told me that he followed the actions the teacher taught them - something he refused to do on the first day with mommy there! Well done Wayne. He told me he ate rice for lunch and that he was able to scoop the rice up himself. He told me he ate a pear during snack time and he also told me he only cried a lil bit. Mommy was so proud of him.

When he saw dad, he also told dad the same thing and told dad that "Wayne went to school himself, dont need mommy to go with him." We could tell he was so proud of himself.

A quick check with Teacher Serene revealed that after mommy left, Wayne cried and screamed and was upset for about 45 minutes. After which, he suddenly stopped and decided to participate in the class activities. Teacher Serene said she was surprised he adapted really well, much better than what she expected and what she has seen with other kids. She told us, halfway through the activiites, Wayne even told her that "Wayne not crying." and Teacher Serene said good job and they gave each other a high five.

That night, during dinner, Wayne requested a kitchen paper towel to put uner his bowl, just as how they do in class too. That was really cute.

Well done Wayne! Mommy & daddy are extremely proud of you.
