We are 10 days early.. For what? For Wayne's birthday celebration!!!
Wayne doesn't turn two years old till 10 days later on 20 April 2011. But today was the celebration, as on the 20th, mommy, daddy & Wayne would be in Sydney. So today, together with Nai Nai, Yeye, Uncle Jerome, Aunty Jen, Aunty Florence, Uncle Choo, Aunty Lena, Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle Ken, San yi & Xiao Yi, we all had a small get together to wish Wayne a very happy birthday. Missing Da-yi and Uncle Terry, who are in Japan, and who had sent their birthday love to Wayne via email. =p
Wayne's 'party' was held at Em by the River, an outdoor cafe at Gallery Hotel, which as its name states, is by the river. We had a brunch/lunch event.. with us gathering from 1030am to 2pm. As it was outdoors, mommy was so glad that the weather was just perfect! We were so worried it might rain!! But nope, it did not, and it was not hot as well - cool and just perfect.

The cafe had this really relaxing ambience, being open air, with the river in front of us, and a small pathway by the cafe where many cycled past and kids walked by. As it was a Sunday, the crowd were all dressed down, all relaxed and here to enjoy their Sunday brunch.. including us! Some of us ordered from the breakfast menu and some from the lunch menu. The food wasn't awesomely spectacular, but the ambience made up for that. Or so mommy hopes!
As for our little birthday boy, he was in such a happy mood today.. I think mommy prepped him well the night before showing him his birthday cake and getting him all excited over cutting his cake and blowing his 'number 2' candle (both of which he did splendidly today)... Ohh and it sure helped that his party was attended by all his favourite 'friends' Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy!!! Since turning one a year ago, Wayne had spent most of the past year growing up with the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse gang.. in the form of his soft toys, books, and numerous cartoon DVDs. So it only seemed right that we complete his 2nd year with a Mickey Mouse birthday theme.
For any kid, the birthday cake is probably one of the key highlights of a birthday party.. and so mommy made extra effort in ensuring Wayne had a beautiful colorful cake for his 2nd birthday!!! It was a 3D two tier fondant cake in pale yellow, prettily decorated with Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy figurines, balloons and stars. It had Wayne's name spelt out in front, topped with a red & white Number 2 candle. It was so colorful, Wayne was so happy just looking at the cake from the night before!
Mommy also got some cupcakes to complement the cake, and for our family to bring home to eat.. the cupcakes were yummy, and was also topped with another Baby Mickey and Friends set of figurines. It was really cute, being the baby version of Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald. And thats not all, mommy also got some Mickey marshmallow pops which was so so pretty & cute!!! Probably too pretty to be eaten!!!
As for the decorations, Xiao yi was so awesome in choosing a Mickey Mouse air walker balloon!! It was huge!!! It was taller than Wayne and it was such a hit with all the kids in the cafe and even those walking by the cafe!! Kids just loves Mickey, don't they?!
Wayne had his own fun dragging Mickey around the cafe.. and even tried to ask Mickey to drink some coffee and hold the fork and knife! He was so funny... Thanks Xiao yi, you are the best!
Mommy also got 4 hanging decorative items which she hanged on the tree and by the tables, again in the Mickey theme.... and a small Mickey party bag for Wayne, which he didn't use much.. It had a party hat which he wore for 10 seconds or so, a balloon, some poppers, and a blow out whistle which Wayne managed to blow out once!!!! Yeah!
The cake cutting celebration!
Thanks everyone for making my 2nd birthday party special. I love you lots.
Love: Birthday boy
