Wayne's fear of many things

Somewhat a continuation of the last post entry of Wayne being... scared. Scared of various things. Sigh.

You see, first it was the Flyer last weekend.

Then on Friday night, we brought him to MBS with the plan to watch the light show, which I've heard many rave about. Apparently, their children all loved the show. Not my Wayne. He didn't even want to step out of the building.  Once he saw the fountains of water, he started screaming and crying, clinging onto us for dear life, asking daddy to carry him back into the building & wanting to go home. Sighh..... why?

And the next day on Saturday morning, we brought him to the Central Fire Station. We thought he would LOVE the trip. Because we've been talking about it for months! And each time, he'd say he want to go and climb onto the real fire engine, pretend to be a fireman together with momma. Momma and him would each hold a hose and pretend to put out a fire. Daddy will be the driver of the fire engine... and so on. But surprise surprise, when we arrived, he saw the throngs of people, he saw real firemen decked out in their uniform, he saw the display of the various equipments, he saw water bursting out from the hose... and same thing happened. He started wailing and asking daddy to carry him and saying he wanted to go home.

Daddy's expression changed.  He glowered. Enuff said. Morning spoilt.

Mommy explained to daddy that Wayne wasn't doing anything wrong.. I mean this was a fear. We have to encourage him to overcome his fear. Not be angry with him. How? I don't know.. maybe he just needs more encouragement, more assurance, more love and more time... and one day, he'd just stop being scared.

  1. Hmm..i think he wasn't prepared for the actual scenario. In books n all, it all seems different..so i think it'll get better with more trips n tries. But tink you just have to explain to him before the trip n tell him he doesn't need to be scared.

Maybe like the water fountain stuff, associate it with say...the shower head sprouting water?? ahhaha
